“one of two groups”
Not unintentional.

It’s a longstanding but tenuous alliance that is being sorely tested in the age of the #Resistance.
“Hikers: Stop Hating on Hunters”
...Nd be sure to wear blaze orange to prevent any mistaken identity!
And the hikers, bikers, OHV, equine, kayakers, motor boaters, wind sailors all fight each other
Hiker lorn and the AT Magazine tell you the Gas Line will destroy the natural beauty of the trial and they are all against any new modern infrastructure out on the trails, but almost daily you cross roads, railroad tracks, power lines, bridges, and sometimes a pipeline without any destruction beyond what common powerlines create. Then the Vegans always inform everyone; Homos keep their mouths shut but strut or virtue signal. Leftists out hiking assume everyone is a leftist so virtue signalling is most of the talk beyond trail talk, or talking about equipment. Most of the hiking family seems to use similar brands of equipment, usually the brands that are socially conscious in their advertising. REI is a major vendor with their Co Op and they too expose the eco sustainability profiting nicely for big box store in this day and age.
So many hikers are democrats and liberals - they hate republicans, but profess to be the kind and gentle people of utopia. The Hiking Utopians are no different from a tribe and they will never as a group see other outdoors endeavors such as hunting and fishing as anything more than Manparts and dangerous to their environment in general.
I’ll never forget the shocked expression of a boomer woman when she saw me and my brother coming down from a ridge to a main trail she and a large group of others were using for cross country. She shrieked, “I thought hunting season was over!” I said “Lady its January permit shotgun season. If read the fish and game compendium you’d have known that.” The expression on her face was priceless.
Every 'tribe' has their own tendencies and ways. Primitive hunting vs modern, kayakers vs boats, etc.
I do hate dogs on trails. They scare the wildlife and people let them go off leash.
If there were no Hunters some places would be up to their eyeballs in Deer ,LOL
I can’t tell you the exact number of hikers, whackos, bike riders and assorted libs that I have assisted in the outback with water, vehicle repairs, food, directions or a ride back to town. It is a large number. I stopped helping about five years ago when one asked for help and then proceeded to try and denigrate me for killing the antelope strapped to the top of my gas guzzling SUV. I got back into my Tahoe and left his waterless broke down ass 50 miles from help. Never again unless there are kids in danger.
Man, you be hating on hikers.
I have done all three (hike, hunt, fish) for 60 years...
Hiked and fished just about the whole Smoky Mtns Nat’l Park...Hunted East and Middle Tennessee, Wyoming, East Texas for deer and Canada (with Plott Hounds for bear)...
When I’m out, I don’t pay any attention to politics...Just pay attention to where I am....
I’ve canoed the Boundary Water for years; some time ago I met a guy with a t-shirt that read “Conservationists With Common Sense.”
Terribly logical bunch: http://cwcs.org/
Many are both. Not mutually exclusive.
Much of the AT in Pennsylvania goes through state game lands. I have seen idiots walking up the trail during deer season wearing white. I had a bright orange and purple outer shell that I bought specifically for deer season.
I worked at REI part-time for a short while. I could not stand their attitude of exclusion towards the disabled.
Their philosophy is if you cannot get their under your own power, you do not need to go there.
Lets see here; Running (only food runs), concentrating on nothing but the trail in front of them, not carrying any defensive equipment or devices, complete lack of situational awareness.
YUP; them’s food for a Mountain Lion or a bear.
Most insightful and accurate shared observation about damn know-nothing Sierra Club, AMC eco-hypocrites.
Most enviro-snobs drive their $30K Prius festooned with Obama-Hillary-Bernie bumperstickers to the trailhead, and sport uber expensive petro-synthetic name brand outdoor fashion gear, on a mission to save the earth from Trump loving ignorant hicks.
They are Soooo Eff’ing NPR indoctrinated and devoid of balanced facts.
Time to wear MAGA hats on the trail just to tweak’em!
