Hi everyone,
My daughter has just recently got married and moved. Though she has only moved about 20 minutes away, it is a different city. Can she still vote at out voting precinct? She just got her new drivers license with new married name and address...still has her old one but it has been stamped void. What should she do especially since we are so close to election?? Thanks~
She’s screwed.
She should have voted early.
she’s young and I wasn’t thinking about it ... anyone from Virginia have any suggestions?
Should she just try to go to our precinct?
She needs to contact her county recorder’s office to find out. Same thing happened to my wife and I, our mailed ballots were sent to our old address and they don’t forward those, but we were able to vote early at a nearby site, today in fact. So maybe she can do that too.
My guess is that she can still vote in her previous home precinct. That is where she is registered.
That is what I would do.
Does she have to show a photo ID to vote?
Even though her previous drivers license shows canceled, it should be still OK for ID, she doesn’t need a valid DL for identification, only if the police stops her.
Good luck.
Do they ask for ID at the polls?
To my knowledge, she should vote at the precinct of her new address. That’s what’s on her ID. (drivers license)
There may be a bus transporting folks to the polling place. Have her jump on it and she can vote in as many places as the bus goes to!
surprisingly yes they do ask for ID...

To all wko asked: in Va you have to show ID. (Maybe provisional vote without it.)
“Should she just try to go to our precinct?”
that might work
I’ve lived in Va for ten years and I have never shown ID once to vote.
That would be in Washington and Wise counties.
Call the Registrar of Voters and ask what to do.
I’m in Scott co. and they last told me my driver’s license was what they would accept!
You’re in a rural county too, maybe they know you personally?
No they do not know me.
They just don’t care.
If she’s Democrat she is allowed to vote both places to make sure.
I voted twice while living in Virginia, and they never asked for an ID (Arlington). Oddly, while stationed overseas most of my life....they always asked for my ID when going through the base office to request a absentee ballot.
If she’s in same state, probably no problem. Go to registrars office and get a registration tranfer
That could be.
Or maybe they know you through the grapevine. Hilarious how everyone knows everything about everyone here LOL!
Consult with the Supervisor of Elections main office where she now resides. She will probably be allowed to vote at her new precinct.
