I like everything about these back-up shooters. They are absolutely perfect for smaller, weaker and very old support arms.

I especially like the Beretta.

6-8 extra 92FS mags loaded with 124gr hollow points and fired through a 16in barrel...should result in about 1300fps.

Hot home loads will give you 1400fps. Especially if you use slow burning pistol magnum powders.

NOBODY want to get hit with a 124gr hollow point traveling 1400fps.

And you 'ol lady or young son can hit a man in the eye with one of these at 50 meters.

I’m no .22 fan for defense but by the numbers .22LR has killed more people, I believe, than any other caliber.

I passed on a chance to buy a Marlin Camp .45. It took 1911 magazines. I think they guy wanted $300 or so. I should have snapped it up.

The M1Carbine should have made this list.

Only the 44 mag ones (I wish Ruger was still making the .44 magnum semi-clone of the 10-22) can beat mine, and the 10MM ones equal it: Mech-tech 'upper' receiver in .460 Rowland.

That is the least expensive (yet well made and reliable) way to get into a pistol carbine, if you already have a Glock or 1911 'lower' to mate with it.

Chiappa M1-9 didn’t make the list. It’s an appearance clone of the M1 carbine but a blowback action. It takes Baretta FS92 magazines from the local milsurp shop.

I’ve fitted a folding paratrooper stock to it and added a reflex sight and it’s about 2moa at 100 yds with cheap Russian ammo.

I just picked up a Ruger PC9 take-down. Shoots Ruger or Glock mags by using the adapter that comes with it. It’s also threaded with a thread protector already on it for suppressor use.

They’re pefect for in-town deployment, where a long range rifle could kill the inocent in greater numbers than the terrorists.

The 7.62 x 25mm round was/is used in the CZ-52 pistol..and was/is used in a Soviet machine gun.

I'd take a guess...there's a rifle out there that shoots that round also.

Might be a bit quicker than 1300 - a 357 mag goes from about 1280 to almost 1800 fps when run through a 16” barrel.
