I'm not trying to speak for Trump but,
vanity | 3-20-2019 | Chuckles

Posted on 03/20/2019 4:18:07 PM PDT by chuckles

I'm not speaking for Trump or making excuses, but I understand why Trump doesn't like McCain. McCain was arrogant, always has been. He came from privilege and we know how he got through the Naval Academy,....near the bottom. There are plenty of witnesses that knew him of the Forestall, but no one asks them what they think if it's negative about McCain.

I was in the military and there were plenty of brave men I met while in the military, but bravery doesn't qualify them to hold public office. I knew some that would thrown their life down to save someone else that you wouldn't want to be dog catcher and they possibly need to be in jail. I didn't know McCain personally, but I didn't like him by what he said and did over decades of "service". /sarc

What I saw is a man that was reasonable as long as he was in charge, but was NEVER a team player. The media hated him while Clinton was POTUS, but loved him when 43 was steering the ship. The reason was, McCain did everything he could to screw Dubyah. The media called him "Maverick". The truth is he was a RINO and everyone knows it. His picture is there under RINO on Wikipedia. He was jealous 43 was POTUS and wanted to embarrass him. By doing so, Republicans were screwed and He brought harm to the country. The media loved him fighting Bush, but when it was finally "his turn", The media hated him once again. Of course, it was Palin's fault he didn't win even though it easily provable that she brought anywhere from 15-30 percent to McCain's team. It couldn't be because he was a wishy washy piece of crap.

Now we come to Trump. It was quick to see that McCain was a "Never Trumper", in fact he might have been in the leadership. Now that Trump was elected and things are going so well, the Never Trumpers are SLOWLY melting away, but some, that have lost their positions now will never accept Trump fixing everything he touches and they have failed for 40 years. McCain was one of them. He took the "Dossier" and spread the word all around. Why would you do that knowing it came from Hillary? There was many more digs McCain tried while in the Senate, but cutting to the chase, He voted thumbs down on killing Obamacare. He made sure it took his vote and he made sure he came in the middle of the night on camera. That was his final statement to Trump before death and everybody is supposed fall down and worship McCain for it. I for one agree with Trump. he might not know how to say it gently, but why should he. The media will ask him 100 more times what he thinks about McCain just to get a story for the next cycle because someone like Trump (and Me) will not soften their response to make the medicine go down easier. That's what I admire most about Trump.

If they keep harping on Trumps opinion of McCain, there will be someone look into the Forestall incident, or look at other things the media have let slide over the years. I don't like speaking ill of the dead, but they should stop picking the scab.

It’s simple. McCain tried to torpedo Trump. If you try to torpedo a destroyer and you fail, you better be prepared for some depth charges.

McCain crossed a line with his handling of the Dossier. He tried to do Trump personal harm.

I served under McCain for a few months in a training squadron and was a plane captain trainee at least once or twice to him, but I base my opinion on his post-military life.

It isn’t for me to say what happened between him and his first wife, but it doesn’t paint a pretty picture of him. I have always tried to be lenient in my personal judgement of people’s behavior when I know they have been through difficult times, but his conduct as a politician was nauseating to any conservative.

And almost as a way of shoving it in our faces, many of us ended up voting for him because the alternative of a candidate, so hostile to American values, was no alternative at all. We held our nose and pulled the lever.

And many of us voted for his running mate more than we voted for him. To those of us who observed that sentiment when we did our duty at the polls, John McCain’s disgustingly ungentlemanly and disrespectful treatment of her in the years after their loss told us all we needed to know about him.

I stuck up for McCain for a long time. I was a military brat, out at overseas Pacific bases for nearly the whole Vietnam war, and I hero worshipped my father and men like him, and that included men like Admiral Stockdale, CDR Denton, and yes...LCDR John McCain.

Me and my friends (other brats) wore metal wristbands with the names of POWs on them, and I had a Denton one. They would turn green and eventually crumble.

I knew who he was when I went to his training squadron, don’t know how many other young guys like me did when they showed up there.

And I stood up for him at one point with regard to the Keating Five scandal, saying without even knowing the details, that he was a token Republican, just there to make the prosecution bipartisan.

On Free Republic, I had someone take the time to have reasonable (off the forum) discourse with me because he thought I was not allowing myself to see McCain for what he was due to his military service, my respect for those who have served, and my feelings towards the Navy after watching my Dad his whole life then seeing it myself.

In other words, he said I was defending McCain out of loyalty. A laudable trait, but, in my case misguided. He was right. I owe that person a debt, but I cannot recall who it was. But he got me past that, and a clear-eyed viewing of McCain’s conduct as an elected official was a difficult thing for me to bear. Nobody likes to face the fact that they pulled the wool over their own eyes.

I would have rather gone on viewing McCain in the manner many viewed Benedict Arnold before he was wounded at Saratoga.

“I understand why POTUS did not like McCain, but his remarks today did seem a little harsh. He seemed like he was pretty upset. I hope this does not mean that trouble with Mueller or something like that is about to break. I am a little concerned.”

When this is over, McCain and Fusion GPS will get all the blame. A dead traitor cannot defend himself in the court of public opinion.

And by the way, don’t go after McCain on what happened on the USS Forrestal. McCain had no more involvement in what happened than surviving it. He didn’t start it and was pretty lucky to survive that day.

Trust me on this. We should excoriate him for his performance in government, there are a lot of factual things we can hang around his neck.

The trouble with McAmnesty was that his so-called war-hero status shielded him from the repercussions of bad actions and choices. He felt almost invincible because the mediots loved his “maverick” persona.

To the rest of us, he was simply a pig-headed, petty, and spiteful POS. .

the time for “North Mexico” was actually 1848 when the US had control of Mexico and had its government in custody. We should have annexed Mexico then.

“Little people”? Like Hobbits? Wasn’t that one of his slurs directed at us?

We could raise a lot of help for veterans by charging patriots to piss on McCain’s grave....

Citizens can be charged.

veterans should be able to do it for free.

Good accounting of McCain's deep RINOism and his simmering hatred of President Trump.

The President will continue to pour criticism onto McCain because the Senator used the Hillary-Steele dossier to create the Mueller witch-hunt.

McCain is absolutely key to the reason Trump's whole tenure has been haunted by this Russian Collusion dumpster-fire--and McCain singlehandedly lit it up.

John McCain’s military records should be de classified and leaked to the public.

He was a traitor to his fellow POW’s in Viet Nam.

His incompetence killed fellow crew members on the USS Forrestal after his plane fired rockets and set the ship on fire.

......"don’t go after McCain on what happened on the USS Forrestal. McCain had no more involvement in what happened than surviving it. He didn’t start it and was pretty lucky to survive that day.".....

: Do you have personal knowledge of this? I could show you many that would disagree completely. There are plenty of Youtube video's with actual film and it's hard to tell. They have eyewitnesses that complained of his hot starts to cause explosions for fun. Supposedly the hot start blew a unsecured rocket off a pod to start things rolling. He wasn't implicated because of his Dads DNA. There is also getting shot down 5 times with little to show for it. That's either very unlucky or a complete lack of skill. His record at the Naval Academy for me shows a lack of skill. If Daddy will take care of every screw up, get ready for plenty of screw ups. I give a lot of credit for military men, but that doesn't show they are a slam dunk for Senator or even POTUS. I knew some brave SOB's in the Army, but some of them were alcoholics and wife beaters. Some believed the military owed them something more than a paycheck and were completely corrupt. How would any of these be better than a businessman for public office? I give credit for military experience, but that is just the beginning of the rectal exam politicians should get.

I can tell you McCain had plenty of hemorrhoids and maybe a fistula or two, but his time in Hanoi stopped his rectal exam more than once. Just look at the Keating 5 and tell me his war service didn't get him out of it. His war service has been beaten to death saving his ass for decades. At some point IMO, you lose your honor that people have paid you. His attitude with Trump is just the icing on the cake that his arrogance knew no bounds. He was captured and sat out the war in a cell. They beat him, that shows no bravery that someone beats you. Word is he squealed and sung like a bird. maybe; maybe not. I will give him hero status in Hanoi, but the rest takes that away for me.

Benedict Arnold has been mentioned here. He was an absolute, no doubt about it hero, but his arrogance made him feel he was slighted by Washington so he became the most famous hated traitor of all time. McCain was a smart ass that needed an ass kicking several times......IMHO of course.

His father and grandfather failed him by not giving him that ass-kicking. They should have yanked his butt out of the Naval Academy, but lacked the courage to do it.

Agree - just this morning my wife was watching the early news and said she wished Trump wouldn’t speak ill of the dead....I told her I also believed it was bad to piss on someone’s grave but not to take the left’s version of it....McCain is being falsely lionized because he betrayed his constituents and Party time and again, was let off the hook for responsibility in deaths of comrades in arms because he had a powerful Admiral father and then was an integral cog in the treasonous attempt to unseat a valid President...he deserves the bad press as the Left tries to rewrite history.

Nothing personal here chuckles, I don’t know you that well so this isn’t directed at you personally.

I served under McCain in a training squadron, and served in the actual squadron he had been in while he was on the USS Forrestal, and am well conversant in the facts.

Please. Don’t start talking about his “Hot Starts” unless you can explain in detail what a hot start is, and how it could have contributed in any way given the geometry of the plane spotting at the time.

I spent the better part of four years working on a flight deck of a carrier, and I’m telling you, talking about how McCain started the fire is nonsense and makes us all look like we don’t know what we are talking about.

When knowledgable people see that, they discount EVERYTHING we say.

We should stick to the things that are factual, because the Left and their allies won’t be able to discount us on the basis of what we say, and will be forced to have to contest the facts or resort to liberal tactics, in both ways, they lose.

McStain was probably a very good pilot in the US Navy.

There are no excuses for his behavior after he left the US Navy!!!

We do not care what he did as a pilot all we have to do is look at his record as a Senator. He is a total disgrace period and end of story.

McStain hated President Trump and McStain is the one that got us that America Hating Piece of Work Obama and his America Hating Wife Moochelle Obama. McStain ran the lousiest presidential campaign ever in our book!!!

McStain is the one who gave the Fake Dossier to the "Giant Sixth Grade Brain Journalists"!!! The "Giant Sixth Grade Brain Journalists ran with the Fake Dossier without checking the facts as did McStain.

Yes, he was a POW at the Hanoi Hilton in Vietnam and something that I would not wish on anybody.

McCain himself has put a stain on his Name!!!

I feel much the same way. It is his behavior after he left the USN that I take umbrage with.

I leave it up to those who served with him both before and after his capture to pass judgement on him for his behavior. And there are a number who have.

As I said, I only served under him as a trainee for a short time, and honestly, he never said much of anything that I could hear. I did see him exhibit some odd behavoir once, as he was just standing at a scuttlebut in hallway of the squadron admin offices, and he was just completely motionless staring at the water coming out for a long time...I thought he might have been waiting for it to get cold, but it was a lot longer than that. He looked like he was simply zoned out on the water stream.

In the years since, I have wondered if that was a holdover from his days of captivity, since that was only a two years after he was released, but it was odd to see.
