Oh, so a climber who is about 150lbs (~ 70kg) is supposed to collect a dead hiker who, probably frozen solid at that point, to the weight of ~ 175lbs if not more so, can drag it down? You want others to perish to do such a recovery? Have you ever humped 175lbs of solid, immobile body down a 60* downslope on ice? Please, tell us how you do it. /sarcasm.

The first rule of search and rescue is to not put yourself at risk.

Every single one who heads up that mountain knows the risk and that they might never come back down off of the mountain.

Those who have gone up for recovery efforts have perished, too - including those who are hired (Sherpas) to clean up the trash and rubbish - so you expect someone to bring down a hiking buddy at the risk of their own life?

I'd prefer the rubbish deposit at $15K per person since it's pretty bad up on the mountain, even if the clean-up efforts are ongoing and helping some. But expecting others to be their brother's keeper risking their own life to have a high moral ground is ridiculous at best.

Why don’t you detail to me how you justify 320 tons of refuse left on the mountain. Someone dragged it up there, but no one drags it down. Whee! We climbed the mountain, we’re outa here. Yeah I get the issues about bringing dead bodies down, but this latest one is far from The “death zone”. I really didn’t expect posters on the FreeRepulic defending entitled asshats in their “look at me ain’t I great” behavior.
