I can see it now. Contractor: "Okay, so you need me to go cut out giant blocks of stone weighing hundreds of tons and move them several miles to the job site using logs, I'll need to cut down a forrest to get the logs for that so I'll include that in the quote. Then you want me to raise them up to build this square mound looking building in the drawing ... wow, that's tall. Anyway with that may blocks I'll have to install one every ... oh, I guess every 7 or 8 minutes if you want it done on your schedule. I'll go work up that estimate for you now, I gotta warn you that materials and labor are going to run pretty high on here given your specs. I can save you a little if you let me knock down that sphinx over there and reuse the blocks and ... no? alright, we leave the sphinx. I'll send you that estimate right awat."
FWIW, I never even heard of “plantation weddings” before the recent wave of denunciation.
And yet...
It gives them an excuse for all their failures in life, and someone to blame. And finally, it gives them a reason to not try anything because "the system is still just as bad as it was then". For some people it's very comforting in a way to sit back and say "my life sucks but it's not my fault, I'm just a victim and there's nothing I can do about it."

Many years ago I lived in New Orleans, and there was a local “newspaper” published there; it was published by a black racist doctor who was crooked to the core. I believe he was eventually arrested for fraud. His “newspaper” routinely capitalized “Black” and lower-cased “white.”
