It will work on autos also as long as the torque convertor is still locked up enough to make the engine keep turning just a bit as you roll. Hard on mufflers though, makes them puff up and sometimes split a seam. But in those days we were all using glass pack bullet mufflers that had no baffles. :)

That's what I thought about autos...not enough direct link-up as with sticks....but you confirmed all my thoughts. Glass packs ruled!!
