And the CDC has definitely changed its tone. They are pretty much saying that this is going outbreak here.

So, let’s just use your example to demonstrate how this is like the flu.
First, you are comparing an entire years worth of a virus—with known vaccines—and comparing it to a new virus with no known vaccine.
You are comparing the impact of a disease that is well known and prepared for every year. Now through a more contagious and longer hospitalization on top of your flu.
Finally, China has had the same flu as the US since...we’ll, since forever.
If this is nothing more than the flu..explain why 750 million people are under travel restrictions AND 60 million people are lacked down. The largest quarantine in human history.
I get that you don’t give a f about Chinese people. But tell me you’ve ever seen a country that large, effectively shut itself down. Completely?

yep it just the seasonal Chinese New Year flu - happens every year, but they overreacted as people began to drop dead in the street - imagine that!

Whatever the outcome is with this virus, in my opinion, it never hurts to prepare in advance.

What I don’t understand is all of the people on FR that like to think themselves clever have never hear a virologist suggest with 100% certainty that the biggest threat to humanity is a virus. Not a matter of “if” but when.

I don’t want it to spiral out of control and be worse than the 1918 Spanish Flu! I want it stopped. That’s why I post articles on it.
You’re premise that everyone posting articles on coronavirus, are convinced that it will necessarily be worse than the Spanish Flu is a false premise.
What I did do, is I bought puts on the market on Friday when I saw the out of china numbers growing. Yeah I’ve had two very profitable days. But I’d rather see this thing stopped in it’s tracks than to make money.
