First, let me say I am more than pleased in how my chemo and radiation treatments have been going. No nausea at all from the chemo and outside the pain from the arthritis in my shoulders holding my arms over my head for 15 to 20 minutes during radiation, I am not suffering much at all. Oh, I am down in the dumps at times and have fatigue to the max. I am sleeping about 16 hours a day.
All in all, the whole experience has been much better than I ever expected and all thanks to you all who gave me their prayers and support. I am so thankful to y'all!
Now, back at the ranch-- Coronavirus Insanity is real! The drive by media and the DemocRATS, never letting a crisis go to waste, are trying with all their might to kick fear into hyper-drive against President Trump and the Republicans and a part of it has hit close to home--
Hell, it has hit home right here in Corsicana, Texas, 56 miles south of Big D.
I went out for my last radiation treatment for the week at noon and then went down to the local HEB Grocery to get some milk. Now, granted, I have not been out and about much other than to get my chemo and radiation treatment, but as I drove up to HEB the parking lot was crammed to the brim.
Finally finding a parking spot, I made it inside and found an empty handicap cart and entered a land of folks filling grocery carts to the brim. Oh, I was able to get milk, yet I found there was not a roll of toilet paper to be found. Just a whole wall of empty racks where it should be stocked. Nor was there any hand sanitizer either. And thinking of my need to use distilled water in my COPD unit I went to get a couple of gallon jugs. Yep, the water section was just as empty as the toiler paper area.
I waited in line for nearly 20 minutes to pay for my milk and a couple of other things and then went down the street to Brookshires' discount brand grocery and found they were also out of water, too.
I realized I had several extra distilled jugs at home, so I figure I'll try again early in the morning when the trucks make their grocery deliveries. Getting home, I took the two distilled jugs I used as drinking water out of the fridge to save for my COPD. I filled up four empty jugs with water from the sink faucet and put them in the fridge for drinking.
I certainly hope the shots do the trick. Great that the insurance is covering most of it.
You are going to look like a pincushion with all these needles! Hang in there, Bender, you are strong and not alone!
Thanks for the update!
I will keep praying.
Thanks for the report.
Prayers.
My prayers go out to you. My husband finished 35 radiation treatments and chemo in January for stage 3 lung cancer. Now he’s on immunotherapy once every two weeks. It’s been rough since his diagnosis in October. He’s doing so much better. Keep the faith and stay positive.
Prayers.
You are in my prayers, Danny.
take care and I hope your health improves, keep your spirits up
Thanks for the update Bender2, and good luck with the shots. Please keep us posted on how you are doing, and God bless you.
Continuing prayers for you and yours.
Prayers up
Its tough. My husband went through this 4 years ago with colorectal cancer. It was chemo, radiation and a 9 hour surgery, the whole nine yards. Hes still doing well and hes 86 years old. Blessings. I tried to find the positives about cancer and found three: he got tos see his family more and now I dont remember the other two. :)
Next a trip north to the Texas town of Waxahachie (Reputed to be in the language of the Kiowa Tribe of Indians to say "You stepped in Buffalo.. eh... droppings!") for my second of five shots to get my white blood count elevated. Many, many, many thanks to Jill Collier, my buddy Brian's lovely wife who chauffeured me up and back in a delightful manner.
The second shot seems to set off a side effect of aches and pains or my age old rheumatoid arthritis wants back in on the action. Either way some BenGay will do the trick or the heating pad will. Knock on wood--
Back in the Big C, I than made my daily trip to the Post Office and HEB, then off to wilds of radiation-land to once more be bombarded by left over bits of Little Boy or Fat Man to stamp out my cancer cells.
Finally, I drove to Wallyworld's gas station for a fill up of my old Toyota in case I have to go it alone tomorrow back to Waxahachie for shot number three if Greg is indisposed by his abscessed tooth. BTW Walmart unleaded was $1.829 and that was the cheapest I've seen it in a blue moon or nine.
So, home again, home again with more old films from TCM and Amazon to while away the hours.
Now, all y'all take care and God Bless,
Danny
What? No jiggity, jig?
My youngest son ended up with a blood clot in his lung last year from his chemo treatments. I guess that can be one of the side effects. They put him on a blood thinner for the remainder of his treatments, so it's good your cardiologist is on the ball. Keep plugging along Bender2. We're rootin' and prayin' for you every day.
Started at 8 AM at my cardiologist who will be changing my blood thinner medications to keep me from having a stroke down the pike.
Be careful with the new blood thinners. You are not supposed to take NSAIDS for your arthritis and the blood thinners.
There are days, I really need the relief from them, but we can’t go there.
Good luck and hang in there.
Are you on Eliquis blood thinner? I am..................
You tuckered me out just reading about your day. Keep on truckin since you aint doing no ... um never mind.
