“No, there’s no way that a continued lockdown is going to happen.”

They are not obeying it now. Over the last two weeks, I’ve been in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arkansas and Louisiana. It seems like more and more people are getting on the road each day.

Dallas has to have been the worst. I’d say about 90% of normal traffic mid day.

All the cities are doing poorly on the stay at home. People can’t go out to eat and to the bars, they can’t go to the mall, but they are finding plenty to do.

Out in the country, you do see a definite slow down of people out. I was in the UP of Michigan last weekend, and there are few people on the road there.

Yeah we don’t know enough yet.
They made a reasonable try.

Isn’t that the movie where the main character finally becomes a nice guy and then nobody likes him anymore?

It’s been so long since I’ve seen it that I can’t actually remember how it ends.

And even further, prep individually as if you are going to be one of the few sole survivors.

I know that’s not likely to really happen, but every family needs to be as self-sufficient and independent as possible.

That includes learning skills that our grandparents had, such as growing your own food, putting it up, sewing, repairing things yourself, being armed and ready to defend yourself.

We as a whole culture, have become too dependent on the supply chains and live as if that’s never going to change. This virus is a wake up call for those paying attention, that NOTHING in this life is a given and what we’ve taken for granted for far too long, can evaporate in a heartbeat.

Many people cannot handle that.

You stated it far better than I did.

Thanks.

Tax laws need to change. Stop punishing businesses for having cash reserves and inventory on hand.

Just going to lobby to get the mail I was forced into a discussion with a lib about how hydroxychloroquine has side effects and how Trump is benefiting from it.

What would you do if you were being rushed to the hospital? Worry about possible side effects? Refuse the drug because Trump has a tiny interest in one company that makes it?

Nothing will ever change these people, not even being at death’s door.

We’ve been traveling between our home here and in NH and the roads are fairly deserted.

In the CNY area, people are staying home more. There is definitely less traffic on the roads.

I suspect that school being out plays a big role in that. For us in rural America, that’s a bigger percentage of the traffic than in the cities.

Yup.

Seen that in NYS.

The biggest deterrent to business in NY is the tax system, run by the dems, of course.

then, fine, they don’t have to take the drug if they don’t want to.

They can deal with the consequences of their own decision.

Truer words have never been spoken. I wish I knew how to sew. My mom was a master seamstress.

She used to take me to Clothworld when I was a kid. I hated Clothworld, so boring! She would look through pattern books for hours, then buy what she needed to go home and make from scratch her own professional clothes, because she could not afford to buy them in the department store at the time.

The clothes that she made were amazing. She could have made a career at that.

My mom is an old and wise soul. She is my greatest treasure.

We as a whole culture, have become too dependent on the supply chains and live as if that’s never going to change.

We also have a small business economy that runs on a shoestring. Businesses are living paycheck to paycheck like an 18 year old who just moved out on their own. Now some are folding after a single month of shutdown. Margins have become incredibly thin, as people obsess over saving a few dollars on made-in-China crap, or forcing family businesses to bid against illegal aliens and outsourced employees for their projects. It's impacting virtually every segment of our economy.

Here's a table that combines the Coronavirus death numbers from bing and population data from wikipedia to get deaths per million, sorted from lowest to highest. The info is not 100% reliable and some countries were left out due to lack of data but it might be interesting to look for trends. Warmer countries seem to have fewer deaths for example.
