Oxford COVID-19 Vaccine Could Give People Protection 'For Several Years'

Scientists at the University of Oxford who are leading the hunt for a COVID-19 vaccine, believe it could give people protection for "several years."

Professor Sarah Gilbert, who is leading the University of Oxford trial told MPs on the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee that she was hoping the vaccine would provide "a good duration of immunity" from the novel coronavirus.

The vaccine, developed in partnership with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, has been described as a "leading candidate" by the World Health Organisation's chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan.

Some had feared that any potential COVID-19 vaccine, which is not expected to be ready for the wider public until at least next year, would not be able to offer long-term protection, given that those with other types of coronaviruses, such as the common cold, had been reinfected within a year.

Professor Gibert told MPs: "Vaccines have a different way of engaging with the immune system, and we follow people in our studies using the same type of technology to make the vaccines for several years, and we still see strong immune responses.

"It's something we have to test and follow over time – we can't know until we actually have the data – but we're optimistic based on earlier studies that we will see a good duration of immunity, for several years at least, and probably better than naturally-acquired immunity."

It comes as scientists warned of the "worst winter yet" for hospitals' accidents and emergency departments if no COVID-19 vaccine is found in time and if the flu season is particularly bad this year.

Just like the flu shots. Oh, wait. Flu shots have killed people. Flu shots are a crap shoot. Viruses mutate so the years long shot won’t be effective the next year or the year after that.

I believe that’s already happening. My SIL researches this for her kids, and it seems that aborted fetal cells are common in the bazillion injections they want to give children.

I always wonder if that messes with kids’ DNA — if the fetal cells retain their DNA. How would/does it affect gender and sexuality after kids get their vaccine cocktails with foreign DNA and chromosomes (XX / XY)?

I know so little about that subject that I really can’t say much. I thought the idea of stem cells were that they were blank slates and could become any kind of cell but they still have to have DNA right?

Maybe true about fetal stem cells. Maybe other cells are used? Like you, I’m not up to speed on any of this.

Fauci doesn’t know any more than you or I do, that’s a fact. They can’t even test for this virus accurately, the CDC even states it could mean your testing positive for a different Coronavirus which is quite common. They will never develop a vaccine, this thing will be long gone before that (but it’s impossible anyway). Fauci’s opinion changes like the wind. The real lesson here is modern science and medicine are nowhere near where they’d like us to believe they are.

WE were all grateful for the Sabin polio vaccine.. He tested it on his daughter.

I got a flu shot one year. Only year I ever got flu . My daughter got measles shot or vaccine, whichever it was back then. Came down with horrible case of measles anyway. Fell, hit her head on the desk, bled profusely. We bundled her up and took her to emergency room. They wouldn’t let her in because she had measles.

Take your vaccines, and good on you. I’m not a huge fan of the medical profession because med schools are all funded by pharmaceutical companies. One of my good friends, with a degree in pharmacy, worked as pharm company rep to hospitals. Took docs on big, expensive vacations. She knows I’m right. My present physician was not educated in the US, so he PRESCRIBES 12 nutritional supplements for me, makes them tax deductible. All doctors can do this, but they won’t.

Doctors never study the immune system in med school. NEVER.
