Lake Tahoe has seen a record breaking year of real estate sales and the inventory of properties is at a shocking low amid the pandemic as people working from home seek refuge in the picturesque mountains.

Local real estate agents in the Lake Tahoe and Reno area reveal home sales in the area are up 20 percent compared to July last year and the number of active listings are down 25 percent, with properties whisked off the market in a matter of days.

'People were thinking of leaving the Bay area, leaving more populated cities and coming to areas like Lake Tahoe, which is traditionally a second home market, and buying homes there and working remotely,' Senior Buyers Agent Sarah Russell with RedFin tells DailyMail.com.

Housing price everywhere seems to be skyrocketing in the past month. Denver saw a 7+% increase in the past month but only a 2% increase in the previous year.

I’m a little south of there in Madera County and the market is getting crazy too. Lots of older transplants from the Bay Area are moving into our subdivison.

Watch for dry creek beds if you do. Monsoon rain flash floods can come up really fast down in some of the Minden/Gardnerville area.

“If this work from home trend becomes a more permanent part of the business world,”

Companies are finding working from home =fail. Employees are not as productive and new employees are not able to learn and observe from older experienced employees. There is a whole lot of other issues co’s are finding.

I video chat with my clients and it is no where as good as being there in person.

Companies differ. We’re finding that some of our staff are actually MORE productive working from home. Much depends on management.

Thank you, that’s a great point. I remember encountering one driving home from Tahoe when I was living in Fernley, back when I was young, naive and didn’t think the monsoons go that far north.

Crap. That's great. First they want tear down The Hetch Hetchy Dam even though a large amount of that water went to the Bay Area, now they'll want to drain Lake Tahoe.

Thanks a lot, coronavirus.

And in a short time they will vote in corrupt Democrats who will turn Lake Tahoe into San Francisco in the mountains. Where will they move to then?

I'm in the Carson Valley and houses are being built like crazy! Our little town is about to be invaded by BLM because some lefty got his feelings hurt when our Sheriff chewed out the local library for supporting BLM/defund the police and called in their hoodlum buddies to riot. We'll see what happens. Everyone here is locked and loaded.

Our little valley is coming up in the world.

Really? I haven't seen that. Been here 6 years or so.

BLM/Antifa has a death wish if they pick a fight in rural Nevada. Good luck with that!

“Companies are finding working from home =fail.”

It depends on the business.

Tech is very well suited for remote work. It’s all virtual anyway.

“Where will they move to then?”

Park City

It’s already 20% Mexican since all the Lost Angeles refugees brought their slave population with them to do the landscaping

Everyone from the Dead State known as “Alta Califas” will feel right at home
