Walmart apologized to GOP Sen. Josh Hawley on Wednesday after a tweet from its official account called the Missouri lawmaker a “sore loser.”
The retailer blamed a member of its social media team for the since-deleted snarky tweet, saying the employee had intended to send it from their personal account.
Earlier Wednesday, Hawley tweeted a statement announcing he would object to President-elect Joe Biden’s victory at the Electoral College certification process in the Senate on Jan. 6.
Walmart responded to the tweet, writing: “Go ahead. Get your 2 hour debate. #SoreLoser.”
Hawley, a rising star in the GOP, fired back, attacking the company’s labor practices.
“Thanks @Walmart for your insulting condescension. Now that you’ve insulted 75 million Americans, will you at least apologize for using slave labor?” he wrote.
“Or maybe you’d like to apologize for the pathetic wages you pay your workers as you drive mom and pop stores out of business.”
Walmart issued a swift mea culpa in response to Hawley, tweeting, “The tweet published earlier was mistakenly posted by a member of our social media team. We deleted the post and have no intention of commenting on the subject of certifying the electoral college. We apologize to Senator Hawley for this error and any confusion about our position.”

Walmart irritates me, but if you want to be honest all of the stores sell cheap Chinese crap and if you do not know that you ain’t paying attention.
People use Walmart, but they are not alone in selling chinese crap.
75+ million folks that supported PDJT, meh,not so much.

I shop in many thrift and consignment shops. And mom and pop stores.If I see made in America I buy it. My furniture was all made in North Carolina. And I ck food labels. Must be from USA.
Walmart made no mention of firing this asshole.

One of the Walmart descendants went to the governor of Arkansas and told him he needed to enforce a mask mandate and the gov did.
I’ve seen the WM headquarters in Bentonville and it looks like a state prison building.
They definitely don’t waste money on fancy facilities.
Now their Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (built with Alice Walton’s personal wealth)...that’s a gem...and free to the public.
In Wisconsin we’ve called WalMart “ChinaMart” for years.
Their apology means nothing unless there are consequences for the idiot who tweeted that, i.e. firing.
I bet they do fire the employee. I built about forty project for them in my career. Any employee that violated the smallest rule was in deep danger. I knew of a project manager that paid the face price for a football ticket from a contractor employee and was fired forth with.
Unfortunately, Alice has decided to deface the Crystal Bridges website with a big "BLM" banner across the top.
