Okay....what’s your suggestion for one that’s USA made?

My Wouxun’s been working flawlessly for 10-11 years. Even original li battery, although I do have the AA backup battery packs. The alkaline AAs have spoiled themselves (leaked) while the original radio battery charges and discharges fine.
The Baofengs, as I understand, are easy to mod out to reach frequencies at longer distances and put out more power.
Then again, I’m just going by what I’ve read because I’m just learning HAM now. I was getting ready to test before COVID hit and now our local club isn’t really meeting, so now I need to start studying again. I lost way too much information.
