Fox News host Dana Perino announced Saturday that her dog Jasper, who she has often featured on television over the years, has passed away.

Dogs die, they have a relatively short life span. They are not people. My beagle lived to the ripe old age of 16 and had a great life, he died, it was sad. That was that. I have a hard time getting worked up about Dana Perino’s “Biden wins Arizona” dog passing than any other dog.
Thank you for the kind words and prayers.
Just a story, but very cathartic for me. My little girl, Heide(hound/pit mix) when I found her was in quarantine at the shelter. She wagged her tail at me and was basically saying to me "I want to be in your house".
We adopted and never looked back. She was two years old and had a litter, but she was housebroken.
Anyway she was the best dog, never barked or growled, she was just a sweet creature.
Whenever confronted by a yappy dog, she just lifted her nose and basically said, "Get away you peasant".
We have a ratty couch in the apartment and that became her "throne".
A few months before she died, she was having trouble getting up to the "throne" and I got her a nice doggie bed, and she would have none of that doggie bed. Stubborn to the end.
Well anyways, I"m blabbering about memories, but I will always cherish the unconditional love that little beast gave us.
My dog is suffering from cancer, Hemangiosarcoma. She was given 1-3 months but she’s on holistic supplements, a low carb diet, and is 5 months strong. Many survive years after diagnosis but most vets have no clue how to treat this cancer holistically. I’m wondering if this is what Jasper had because Hemangiosarcoma is becoming more common.
How sad. This week will certainly not be known as a week for the dogs. We’ve been bombarded with numerous articles telling of saddening insight regarding man’s best friend.
Dana, God Bless. Jasper can never be replaced, and he will never be forgotten.
He was only 9. Ordinarily he’d have had about three more years. Horrible tragedy for Dana and her husband.
Nine.
My dogs’ ashes will be buried with me.
Oh gee, thanks “Dude”

“Others had just followed him because he was nicknamed America’s Dog on “Red Eye” (that was the show before Gutfeld Exclamation Point)– not because we thought he was better than any other dog, but because I said I’d be happy to share Jasper with everyone. I’d do all the work, and they could claim him as one of their own.”

Ok thanks.
We've been through these heart-wrenching times too often, to know there are no words.
Our 11 y/o is full of tumors; it won't be long B4 we'll have to say goodbye to the best Triever on the planet.
Always sad, and 9 is “young” for a dog.
Or is it "Good dogs go to heaven. Bad dogs go everywhere"?
RIP America's dog. Remembering fondly how you bested Biden in the debates.
Thank you for your condolences. That is one precious looking canine. I have been through this before and it is always heart wrenching. However I would never trade the 12 years with my fur baby for anything.
I understand.
We had a yellow Lab that had a similar tumor issue and we opted for surgery. After months of months of the the tumors coming back with a vengeance [excluding the expense; could have sent 3 kids to Yale on what was expended] .....we vowed never to subject a dog to that again; just let nature take its course.
Cherishing every day we have him.
I read Dana Perino’s opinion piece on the Fox News website — her eulogy for Jasper. And while I have been in her position more times than I want to count, I do have a message of warning to ALL dog owners, after reading her poignant account. First, I am not a vet. Not with a DVM degree anyway, but for all intents and purposes, I vet my own animals far more than most people, due to the rather remote location in which I live. If I didn’t educate myself to be proficient, I probably would have had to say goodbye to animals who had (and DID) have a fighting chance to live. And of that, I am rightly very proud. But I do deal with many good vets and am always amazed at their skill, knowledge and willingness to share it.
If you read Dana’s article, in approximately paragraph number 8, she states how she will miss Jasper’s nightly application of HER skin lotion on the top of HIS paws, to break his habit of licking it off of her legs — in OTHER words, here’s your own ration of my skin lotion to lick, Jasper......instead of STOPPING him from licking it altogether. Have any of you looked at the ingredients in beauty products??? OR carcinogen warnings??? Who in their right mind would allow an animal, probably weighing in at less than 100 lbs, to ingest a topical lotion meant to soften skin?? Does anyone else find that weird and irresponsible?? Or at the very least, ill-informed. Her dog died of cancer. I would be willing to bet that there would not be a veterinarian in this world that would not gasp at the fact that the dog was allowed to ingest that, and who knows for how long.
The world is full of toxic substances....why would someone with so much love for their pet, not get the idea of willingly protecting him from at least one of them cross her mind??
And please, before one skewers me as passing judgement upon a pet owner in mourning, this comment is not meant to do that — far from it. It is to alert someone who maybe is feeding their pet something similar with nary a thought to the damage it may incur, and to please stop. And if it saves ONE dog, so be it!
