Those were a problem in Germany - they were scary pigs! The Germans in my village always had their dogs and big walking sticks when they hiked in the woods. Guns would have been better, of course...
I read somewhere that Germans can own Ruger Super Blackhawks with the 7-1/2” barrel, because the long barrel makes it legally not a handgun in that country.
Now, carrying one in the woods on a hike is a whole different matter.
