Democratic governors are rushing to reassure the public that abortion would always be legal in their states in light of the leaked SCOTUS draft opinion that suggests the court is poised to strike down Roe v. Wade.
The bombshell Supreme Court draft has not been confirmed yet but if it is, it paves the way for states to make their own rules on abortion.
Twenty-six Republican-led states are likely to either ban abortion entirely or place heavy restrictions in place if it is confirmed. Some, like Texas and Mississippi, have already all but banned abortions.
SCOTUS is rushing to find the leak and Republicans are fuming that it was intended to create the furor that it has and hopefully sway the court against confirming it.
President Biden has vowed to sign the right to abortion into law if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
In the meantime, Democratic Governors are rushing to promise that no matter what the Supreme Court does, they will always allow abortion in their states.
California Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted that he would enshrine the right to abortion in the California constitution.

OK, so we get ready to for 50 separate battles (the bad guys will pour money into strange places in Alabama, Oklahoma, Mississippi, South Dakota, Texas, etc.) to try to water down any pro-life laws.

Well, good for CA, NY, & NJ. Doubtful that God will bless them in any way. In any case, that’s where these laws need to be made - in the states. Federal Rowe v. Wade never should’ve happened.
