Abortion and the Election

Posted on 05/03/2022 8:01:48 PM PDT by redheadedshannon

Basic Question to my fellow Freepers: How would a Supreme Court ruling overturning parts of Roe V Wade affect Novembers elections? (try answering based on what you objectively think the outcome will be & not based on what you hope happens)😉

My thoughts are that its produces a cancelling out of pro choice & pro life voters & the elections ceases to hinge on the abortion issue & reverts back to the poor economy, inflation, illegal immigration & poor job markets & Democrats lose as they are expected to 😉

I just think the Dominion vote counters will be working overtime to cancel the conservative votes. But I could be wrong. it may all be on the level.

Doesn’t look good for us. Think of all the young women that blame us for all their shortcomings. BJ and The messiah will be there for them.

We’ll need an army of volunteers to be there for young women in trouble.

The media is pushing this as a “game changer” for the Dems. I disagree. I don’t see any significant effects from this. If you’re inclined to ignore Biden’s disastrous policies, sky-high gas and food prices etc., all because you’re a fan of abortion, well, then you were likely *already* voting for the Dems.

they will lie, cheat and steal in the next 2 elections-justifying it on the basis of abortion rights, see 2,000 mules for how they do it-stuffing ballots via fake absentee

the left leaked it so it would be a mobilizing issue

they had no mobilizing issue

they hope this will prevent them getting annihilated in november

i think it backfires on them

they appear unhinged baby killers already on tv

I get it. My post is a question outside of cheating. Just does the decision hurt, help or is it a wash 😉

America’s stupid electorate has a very, very short memory. Negligible effect.

I agree. I think they assume that because people liberalized somewhat on gay issues that that means they’ve liberalized across the board. Wrong. I think they always overestimated their support in issues of life and death like abortion 😉

Think of hurricane Sandy and fat boy’s hug. Covid and how they capitalized on the deaths under Trump. They don’t let these opportunities go to waste. They create them. There will be more.

I think those who expect abortion to be less of an issue after this ruling is issued are mistaken.

The leftists will campaign on the ruling saying “Keep us in control of Congress so we can do something about this.”

Also, and much more importantly, abortion now becomes a huge, contentious issue for state legislatures in swing states. Each state will need to pass legislation setting limits on abortion. In the swing states this could be a closely fought deal.

I think this is a huge opportunity for grassroots conservatives in MN, IA, WI, MI, OH, PA, NC, GA, AZ, NV, etc. They’ll have every incentive to rally people to win solid conservative control of their state legislatures to ban abortion and secure the elections.

I think it’s a wash right now. BUT the Democrats will make abortion THE ISSUE with the medias help. Pay no attention to rising energy costs, hyperinflation, mass migration, billions wasted on the Russia-Ukraine debacle and the last one is really important - coming food shortages. That will become the issue in the next two years. Americans don’t miss meals. If they’ll kill for new Jordan Nikes, they’ll kill for a McDonalds hamburger and fries if any are available.

Many Blue states already have pro-abortion laws on the books so abortions would continue unabated, so democrats in those states may be less concerned about the abortion process at the federal level.

Many Red states have laws already in place that would outlaw abortions if Roe vs Wade were overturned. Democrats in those states would therefore be riled up to vote straight democrat across the ticket. This may be a concern in tight states, that could flip from red to blue.

The problem for the left is that they have gone too far left, the vast majority of Americans favor restrictions of some kind on this issue, but the left wants a free-for-all and that works against them on the national level.

My guess is we still take the house but by a slimmer margin, which may lead to a RINO as speaker. I think we take the Senate, but again it will be by a slim margin.

My sense is that abortion is not the hot button issue for mainstream Dems that it used to be. The country seems to have become more pro life across the board.

A significant percentage of women have either had an abortion or know someone close to them who has had one. So it will shift women’s voting away from pro-life candidates.

I don’t think that men are in the loop. They undoubtedly know women who have had abortions, but they are unaware if it.

I agree! Its odd. Some of the same people ive met that are fairly soft on gay issues are pretty staunchly pro life. It seems to me that the country has become more pro life as well 😉

I believe a victory of this magnitude would energize motivate and encourage our base.

I believe a defeat of this magnitude would both energize and discourage our opponents.

Net win is OURS.

You can’t really answer without considering cheating. The democrats need to get polls up so that when they cheat it is still credible. When the real SCOTUS decision comes out, dems will poll better.
