Just thinking about it if the rumors are true about the concessions (and they better be in writing) then Rep. Kevin McCarthy will be the most constrained and hobbled Speaker in a long time.
Think about it.
The motion to vacate has been restored so if they (conservatives) want to ditch him in future they can call a vote.
Regular order has been restored (it seems) so no more 4,000 page bills released in the dead of night written by lobbyists.
A Church committee under the auspices of Jim Jordan's Judiciary committee.
The ability to defund agencies and salaries (Holman rule).
These are important wins I feel.
The votes on legislation we all know are a joke.
However, Speaker McCarthy has been significantly weakened and constrained and I think this was a fight worth having even if I'm disappointed that he gets the job.
Thoughts?
They also KNOW what they’re doing.
I trust them that they have extracted enough to constrain this maniac who is about to be called Speaker.
The stuff I’ve mentioned are wins no doubt there are other things. We have to wait and see. I don’t think it’s going to be “business as usual”...
There was nothing patriotic about him wanting to keep Pelosi’s rule changes for himself. And as far as him being impotent, every time he has had power, he lines up against MAGA/.
I like him being gelded. I would prefer him not be in ANY leadership position.

In fairness you should listen to the Charlie Kirk podcast interview with her today.
She flatly says that did NOT happen (this was not about committee assignments) and that McCarthy was lying about it and even apologized to one of the holdouts privately for saying it.
I find her to be more credible than McCarthy. The MSM has really run with this narrative, but somebody is clearly lying and she said the demands were not specific to opposing members.
Your average congresscritter is all about committee assignments, fundraising, and lining their pockets. The “constituents” are way down the list for most of them. The future of my children and grandchildren does not even appear on the horizon inside the beltway.
The legislative system is broken so regardless of “motive” or “who is lying” this exercise of the process and the alleged changes are a good thing in my book.
He will be pointed in the right direction.
Of course pointing a crocodile in a direction doesn’t guarantee much.
Well, he know knows how many Democratic friends he has in Congress.
And, just like that Matt Goetz caves and says he will vote for Kevin. So much for patriotism I guess.
McCarthy is bad news because he works for the dark side.
But I also don’t trust about 70% of the republicans.
