Yeah, “making a football move” BS...according to that rule every hook route pass reception in the NFL is a “non-catch”/incomplete pass. Tackled immediately after getting the ball. Bogus, he fumbled after having complete control for 2+ seconds.
The second call, was a thrown flag... FIRST OF IT’s KIND in the game.... at a critical time.
KC had a 3rd down and 8, with 1.50 left... and Philly had 1 Time Out remaining. The game was tied. KC was in EASY FG range. All they needed was one 1st down. Then, they could run down the clock, and kick a gimme FG to win the game.
Without the 1st down, KC wouuld kick the FG.... Philly would get the ball with ~ 1:40 left, and one Time out... only needing a FG to tie, TD to win.
We’ll never know what might have happened, because... the refs ENDED the game, with a bogus Defensive Holding call. It’s a damn shame. They robbed the world of a GREAT, dramatic finish.
Like I said, I don’t LIKE That rule.. but, it IS the rule.. and, had been for nearly a decade now.
That's the sort of call it would be nice to see the Ref's have more respect and caution with. Everyone else is rooting for one team or the other, no one wants the Ref's to decide who wins.
I watched the play again today, with my live recording of the game. There was NO “holding”. The DB did have his “hands on” the receiver, at first... but, this was literally ON the line of scrimmage. That’s not illegal. He was completely “hands off” well before the 5 yard limit.
I’m sorry... there’s just NO WAY that call should have been made. Mahomes had given up, and thrown the ball away. Smart play. But, they SHOULD have played out the game. If they had, it might have been one of the BEST Super Bowl games ever. Now, it will be forever known as... a “Ref decided” game.
I was not SURE, last night... a bit of drinking during the day. And, the replays they kept showing didn’t show where the LOS was. After watching the live replays today? No one will EVER convince me it was not a huge mistake.
I had no dog in this hunt. No bet on either team. Just a football fan. In fact, the call helped me win two huge prop bets. I just feel cheated. It would have been a fantastic finish. The NFL didn’t want to take any chance to not get the outcome they wanted. I really despise this league.
I thought it was a great dramatic finish.
They didn’t lose because of that call. They lost because they were outplayed and out scored in the second half. Period.
I heard a super-high, crazy girl in Vegas a few months ago who kept saying this: PEER RI OD!!
You sound like her.
You can have your belief. We don't disagree about the importance of KC's play calling and improved play in the 2nd half. I LOVE Andy Reid. But, none of that changes the COLD HARD FACT that, the bogus call... ended the competition.
thanks! It was a fun season.
You must be the ONLY person in America who thought that was a dramatic finish. How much did you win?
The announcers sure thought it was a BAD WAY to end a great game.
I agree on hundred percent. And then Mahomes just threw the ball away.
Of course there were many turning points throughout the game - mainly the Eagles giving up the ball on fumbles twice each resulting in Chiefs TDs - and where the hell was the Philly D in the second half - but that was a bad ending.
The REAL give-a-way was: the Ref DIDN'T throw his flag when he saw the mini-grab on the 1st cut.... he threw it after Mahomes threw the ball away.
I promise you: there is NO ONE on this board that loves NFL football more than I do. I've had NFL Sunday Ticket in my home since 1994.. when I watched it (For free) on my 10' movable satellite dish.
I like the Chiefs. I LOVE Andy Reid. Respect Mahomes for the great player he is. I DID NOT BET on a winner for this game... because, I thought Philly was the best team, but feared the rigged NFL wanted KC to win. I won $824 on $220 in prop bets. That's all good for me. But, I LOVE the game. And this, was a travesty.
Imagine a finish where, Philly gets a chance to either,
1) Gets stopped on downs by KC, or
2) Win on a dramatic TD, or,
3) Kick a long, last second FG to force OT.
How much MORE exciting would THAT have been. The NFL brass ROBBED us of a real dramatic finish.
Goodell? You SUCK!
I’m done. How so you have a discusting l, slipped field during the Super Bowl, and the Godell hugs Magomes afterward?!!! Trash Leauge. I love Baseball. Impossible to script.
Me: wondering how a typed message has a “sound.”
Didn’t win a dime. Glad to see Philly lose and then watch all the heads explode over a call that was correct. Even the player that was holding said he was holding. End of story.
Such a shame. I mean I guess it was a foul but that’s so pansy and he wasn’t gonna catch.
And the long reviews of 2 clear catches, one of which was overturned. Just let them play a little bit.
It's waiting for you at Alec Baldwin's house.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the thread this year.
Extra special thanks to WhoisAlangreenspan for posting the picks results every week and to Red Badger for pinging me to all the latest fool's ball news. See you at the drafT!
Doesn't have to be catchable to flag someone for defensive holding.
They never pick me!.................
