Reserves that have been sent to the front have been chewed up. They are poorly trained and are sent into combat with no air support. Furthermore, they are having to either attack over open farm land or hope to not get caught along the tree lines between the farms fields.

The Russians have had months to place artillery and are using their air superiority and drones to turn US/NATO armor into garbage.

The Ukrainians have yet to even reach the first defensive belt of the Russians.

We are already seeing that additional weaponry from the West has to be produced and will take months to get to Ukraine.

The Ukrainians face a long, bloody slog that will drain them over whatever reserves they have left

Russia, meanwhile is showing 830,000 active and a total of 1.3 million with reserves and paramilitary included. The equipment differences are staggering with Russia having over 4,000 total aircraft and Ukraine just 312.
