Why are they impeaching Ken Paxton in Texas?
Dallas Morning News ^ | Sep 2 | Lauren McGaughy

The impeachment trial, the first such proceeding here in half a century, will take place in the Texas Capitol and will delve into broad allegations of corruption against the state’s top lawyer. State senators will serve as jurors and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick as the presiding officer. Paxton and dozens of other witnesses are expected to be there on Day One.

Arguably one of the most well-known state attorneys general in the country, Paxton has called the trial a political sham and likened it to his ally Donald Trump’s legal troubles.

“[Republicans in name only] and far-left radicals have established a kangaroo court in the TX Lege to eliminate America’s most conservative Attorney General,” the pinned post on Paxton’s X account reads, before asking for a campaign donation: “Help me fight back!”

Paxton denies doing anything wrong.

No criminal penalties are associated with impeachment, and Paxton won’t automatically lose his state pension if convicted. He is suspended without pay pending the trial’s outcome.

In May, the Texas House impeached Paxton by a vote of 121-23. A majority of Republican representatives backed impeachment.

What could happen Tuesday?

Paxton wants the impeachment articles thrown out and the trial halted before it even starts.

His lawyers say he cannot be removed from office for alleged misdeeds that have occurred since his re-election because of the “prior election doctrine,” which they argue makes it’s illegal for an official to be removed for acts committed before their most recent election. The House managers dispute that argument.

The Senate jurors could choose to vote on Paxton’s motion to dismiss first thing Tuesday.

For the Presidency, it has been stated it is part of the President's immunity from the Constitution, by the courts.

Not exactly clear about Texas law, but in general, the doctrine is: if the person was elected by the people, knowing the events before the election, the people have spoken and their decision prevails.

These charges against Paxton have been ongoing as part of the general lawfare against conservatives, for several years.

Remember how DeLay, House whip was driven from the House of representatives with bogus charges? That was the same sort of tactic, in Texas. When the dust settled, all the charges were thrown out, but Tom DeLay was no longer in the House, and the Leftist Lawfare had neutered another effective opponent.

There needs to be a cleaning of the Texas State House of Representatives. The representatives who voted to impeach Paxton who claim to be Republican must be voted out of office during the 2024 primaries of the Republican Party. That is the only way we will get rid of the likes of Dale Phelan and Joe Strauss.

You still think we live in a country with a Rule of Law.

I thought everyone here knew better by now.

Well, they sure as heck didn’t love him when he was President. It was a daily onslaught for eight years, not a lot different than Trump.

Paxton made a 3 hour video

It explained his investigation into the voting machines to certify them as secure for Texas elections.

That video even had pages from the manufactors that showed the wireless connections at dozens of points in the voting machine systems.

Dozens of points that the data was insecure and could be altered.

Due to this close look at the machines Texas refused to certify dominion and smartmatic for use on Texas.

This allowed for at least one election cycle where Texans were able to vote in honest folk.

He stole their ability to cheat the vote.

THAT is why ‘ they’ are after him.

They had to tie his hands , and get rid of him, to get their cheat machines back so they could stop the bleeding out of the crooks they were not able to cheat into office.

They have to get one of theirs into the AG spot so they can get their cheat machines recertified to use in elections again.

They can’t win if they can’t cheat

now that it’s obvious to everyone they are communists out to destroy our Republic

They can’t survive one more honest secure election cycle.

I’ve always maintained that it takes at least 2 honest cheat free elections to get these clowns and Trojan horses out of office.

Texas has had 1, they need one more now that they have flushed the RINO commies out of the bushes ( pun fully intended) to vote the rest of the scum out of office.

That is why they are after Ken imho.

I’ve since looked many times trying to find the link to that video but have never been able to find it again.

It was the Texas AG office video explaining why the machines were not certified.

Paxton is a huge Trump supporter and has filed suit against Biden regime more than any other AG.

Impeachment and removal is not a trial. It is not a court. Impeachment and deciding removal is a purely political exercise to decide if the person in question should remain employed and in office. It is just like a company CEO getting with HR to determine whether to terminate a corporate officer. The corporate officer may or may not be under legal investigation, may or may not ever be charged and that is a completely separate issue performed by a completely different process. Same with impeachment.

With Paxon, it is a political hit job. The GOPe wants to fire him even though he was just re-elected. Whether he did or did not commit some legal offense is not the issue and will never be determined by a legislature body. This is purely to decide if he remains employed.

121 of them are RINOs? That was a huge slap in the Texas house. I can’t imagine all of them are bad. That’s a big number.

Wow! An entire thread speculating on the reason for Paxton’s impeachment and not a single reference to Nate Paul. WTG!
