Israel and Hamas appeared open to extending a cease-fire in Gaza that has halted their deadliest and most destructive war but is set to expire after Monday, with a fourth exchange of militant-held hostages for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel planned for later in the day.

Israel has said it would extend the cease-fire by one day for every 10 additional hostages released. Hamas has also said it hopes to extend the four-day truce, which came into effect Friday after several weeks of indirect negotiations mediated by the United States, Qatar and Egypt.

But Israel also says it remains committed to crushing Hamas' military capabilities and ending its 16-year rule over Gaza after its Oct. 7 attack into southern Israel.

I suspect Hamas only holds some of the hostages.

Other hostages are probably being held outside of its knowledge and control.

So Hamas which is holding “hostages” is somehow the good guys because they are leveraging them and releasing them slowly?

That’s essentially what the MSM is making it sound like.

What’s next? Israel is the bad guy because Hamas hides in hospitals and schools which then get shot at. Oh wait...

“But Israel also says it remains committed to crushing Hamas’ military capabilities and ending its 16-year rule over Gaza after its Oct. 7 attack into southern Israel.”

And Hamas remains committed to murdering every Jew in the world, and then conquering the West and murdering anyone who does not submit to living under islam rules

Wow what happened to natenyahoo call to destroy Hamas ?

Terror tunnels ?

Never again is until next time

Pathetic. He needs to step down. His weakness will invite bigger terror attacks of bigger magnitude

The world hates the Jews , no amount of appeasement will change this

Jew hatred all over the world like it was pre world war 2. People don’t want to believe it but it’s true.

USA is only interested in their own interests and don’t give a crap about Israel or other country. Israel Should do what is best for their own interest

“The deal itself, at least as I understand the terms as they’ve been announced, is a very bad deal for Israel”

Israel will probably in the future have to zap the terrorists it released in exchange for the hostages released.

“His weakness”

He has the option given to him by Hamas or Hamas would have killed the hostages.

We can be pretty sure Israel will have to deal with the released terrorists yet again.

On the other hand, the released hostages will live.

Netanyahu and the leaders of intelligence and military are politically dead. That’s just the way ministerial responsibility works in a parliamentary system. Some might make a comeback, but that will be a long time ahead.

“The world hates the Jews, no amount of appeasement will change this”

Unfortunately, Europe now has lots of Muslims that ensure European governments will be hostile to Israel. They might even supply weapons to be used against Israel.

Israeli policies in the West Bank have been deeply flawed. Innocent Arabs have lost possession of their land. Israeli checkpoints cause daily hassles.

Israel can not claim many actions in the West Bank are necessitated by security needs because Israelis have settled in places in a manner contrary to now well-accepted international law.

On the other hand, Hamas in Gaza had control of both government power and Gazan land. Israel was causing no unnecessary problems to either Hamas or ordinary Gazans. The October 7th attacks were totally improper. Hostage holding is a war crime.

Why does everyone think that Israel isn’t doing anything while hostages are being released?

“Netanyahu and the leaders of intelligence and military are politically dead.”

Governments can not fully protect citizens. Citizens need the means to defend themselves.

Guaranteed that the officials responsible are going to hammer Hamas to the max once this exchange breaks down. Only way to leave their roles without complete humiliation and likely severe consequences. And they absolutely will leave thir current roles.

I noticed that as well.

What’s next? Israel is the bad guy because Hamas hides in hospitals and schools which then get shot at.

Already saw this on a post even here at FreeRepublic.

Western governments need to be honest with their elderly folks and with themselves.

The importing of ‘migrants’ will not save the government retirement systems.

Any benefit cut reduction the ‘migrants’ might enable will be eaten up by ‘migrant’ welfare and education costs.

I am no longer an optimist regarding the future

If Iran gets nuclear weapons then so will Saudi Arabia, Egypt and probably others

Saudi Arabia and other countries cannot depend on a nuclear umbrella from the USA. The USA has only its own interest and cannot be trusted as its policy changes every 4 years.

Independent countries will pursue its own nuclear weapons if Iran gets theirs

So for that reason I see a nuclear war breaking out in the future and it will start in the Middle East because those people are mentally not stable.
