And they became genius when Laine “left” the Moody’s and signed on with the Wings

The later Moody Blues, after Go Now, were a very different and much more successful band. Saw them about twenty years ago and they still put on a good show then.

He changed the game for the musicians, often using some dirty tactics

How many managers ripped off the bands they managed?

I listen to a lot of Classic Rock on various stations and it seems the Moody Blues is hardly played, unfortunately.
We had “Days of Future Past” as kids and played it to death.
Who doesn’t love ‘Tuesday Afternoon’
Lot of great music from them.
“Nights in White Satin”
“Question”
“The Story in Your Eyes”
“Ride my See Saw”
“I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band).”
I can still hear throughout the intercom system my Dad installed that never seemed to work quite right.

Laine also co-wrote (with Paul McCartney) the song, "Mull of Kintyre," which was a huge hit everywhere in the English speaking world except the USA. I didn't think much of it myself when it first came out, but now that I am much older, it seems more poignant than it did back then:

He may have the left the band before they started looking for it. That was such a good LP. Arguably their best.

Speaking of Wings, “Silly Love Songs” and “Listen To What The Man Says” are among the greatest rock songs ever written. Even better than most of what The Beatles produced. You forgot to add the sarcasm tag!

Apparently he was a founding member of the Moody Blues. He left in 1967 with Justin Hayward replacing him.
