My Gawd! As a lifelong Dodger fan I hope it’s not that.
BTW, even if we somehow lose Ohtani, we still have a fantastic team and we’ll see ya’ in September.

He still might be as per MLB bylaws. If they can prove it, he will be.

Look it up. Many people believe the league didn't want to officially suspend him, so they allowed him to retire for 2 years. Do you think the NBA wanted to have to suspend its number one player?
There is some evidence to back it up. For example, Jordan was called to stand in a trial in 1992 where he admitted that he paid $57,000 to a cocaine dealer because of Bets he lost. Another golfer said that Jordan owed him 1.25 million then eventually he paid it back.

Interesting... I will look that up. Thanks.

Not sure of what your basis is for calling Rose a dirtbag. He was highly competitive and beloved by the fans and his teammates. If he played for Boston or NYY, he’d been in the HOF 35 years ago. Rose betting a handful of times on his own team to win did not impact one single game. Meanwhile, the steroids monsters and their cheating impacted every game.

Pete Rose was a terrific baseball player, and probably the most hated player in baseball since Ty Cobb. And he was especially despised by his teammates. Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, and Dave Concepcion couldn't stand him: too much ego, too critical, too intense.
Rose betting a handful of times on his own team to win did not impact one single game.
Bart Giamatti's investigation into Pete Rose revealed that he bet for and against his own team at least 50 times when he managed the Reds in 1987-89. And each bet was a minimum of $10,000 (a lot more money back then).

Michael Jordan retired from basketball for 2 years to play minor league baseball? Either that or it was an off the book suspension for gambling. What superstar doesn't want to take a break from their sport and try another one that they absolutely sucked at?

If baseball is fine with gambling, Charlie Hustle should be in Cooperstown!
In 1975, I was at a spring training game between the Reds and the Red Sox. I got Carl Yaztremski, Fred Lynn, Jim Rice, Carlton Fish, and Pete Rose autographs that day.

He did not bet against the Reds. And the players that disliked him were particularly jealous that Rose, as a homegrown player in Cincinnati, garnered much more love from the fans. The fans love him to this day. He was the heart and soul of the Big Red Machine. Mickey Mantle was connected to mob gambling. And dozens of players used steroids and thus cheated every game. Rose should be in the HOF.
