My daughter always buys Subarus. Zero problems, fantastic service at her dealership. She’s about to buy a new one, would never consider anything else.

Same happened to my 87.
Head bolts were not torqued down tight enough out of the factory.
Sad part is I actually had the valve covers off while replacing the gaskets and the bolts were right there in front of me.
If I had only known..

Still got over 300K out of that Toyota though.

Had 4 Toyotas in a row in the 80’s. Good cars. Never liked the dealers.

We bought a 1972 Dodge Demon (225 slant six) in October of 71 and drove it daily until 2006 when we sold it to a collector.
Very reliable car, but you had to garage them because they leaked and rusted out. That’s why the collector was happy to get ours, it had been garaged most of its life.

I have an Avalon. It’s indestructible. I think I may end up taking it kicking and screaming to the grave with me even though it will still be running

I bought a brand new 1980 Toyota Tercel.
It was a great car. So much fun to drive.
I totaled it.

The first car I owned was a ‘67 Land Cruiser that I bought in ‘72 right before I got out of the AF. It was my only car for a long time and both of my daughters learned to drive in it. It got to the point where I was finding chunks of metal in the oil when I changed it, so I put in a 327. Now I could pass other cars! I finally donated it to a local flying club for a fund raiser. A few years ago, it showed on a local auction site and my oldest daughter bought it - says she’s going to restore it.

It was weird the coolant temp would go up and then go down I replaced the thermostat but no change. I bought this car new, the odometer stopped working but I got at least 200k miles out of it.

I still dream I found and restored my ‘81 long bed red Toyota pickup. Absolutely no mechanical issues until around the 100K mark. Original battery lasted over 10 years in cold Michigan climate. Alternator replaced around 100K, and maybe some alignment work.

But the body had rust problems despite undercoating. I wrecked the bed portion on I-75 black ice one winter, but still drove it.

My staunch, union ex-husband made me get rid of it. (He also made me get rid of my pet ducks and geese.) He suggested an unreasonably low price, and despite being a cheap miser he wanted to spite me, perhaps. Being naive I believed him, and the first buyer thought it was a scam, am I really selling it for $250? Interior was PERFECT. I don’t have the VIN but would track it down in NW Ohio if I could.

When Toyota paired with BMW to build it’s new Supra, BMW really had to up their standards to meet the Toyota quality requirements

Maybe so, but it's a sad commentary on Toyota's ability to build a two seat sports coupe that the Supra is so overwhelmingly a BMW.

My 2004 GMC had over 200,000 miles before requiring brake pads.
My 2015 Silverado with 234,000 miles still on the factory pads.
Wife’s 2014 Camaro with 161,000 miles still on the factory pads.

We’ve had Toyota’s for eons. A Tundra and an Avalon and love them.

Both are made in the USA.

The Aussies have a saying,

If you want to go into the outback, drive a Land Rover.

If you want to get back from the outback, drive a Land Cruiser.

The automotive Three Stooges (England's Top Gear) try to destroy a Toyota truck (in three parts):

For some reason Toyota never need front break pads. They did something that resulted in this. My mechanic informed me of this when I thought I needed new pads on my Toyota. I forgot what the game changing thing was he told me.

I would hear sloshing noises coming out of the engine compartment and heater coil.
Never saw any white smoke coming from exhaust.
engine temp never really changed until close to the end.
I think the sloshing was probably caused by engine gasses leaking into the cooling system.

Otherwise it was a great looking very smooth running and riding car.
Maroon/maroon with this awesome looking metallic flaked rubber door trim that i didn’t see on a lot of other Supras.
5sp turbo.

I miss that car..

Your probably not gonna believe this, but I sold an ‘09 Tacoma in 2019 with almost 100k miles on it and it STILL didn’t need front brake pads

I have a 2013 Ram 3500 that I bought new and I changed brake pads the firs time at 150,000 miles and they still had 40% remaining. I regularly towl at 21,000 pound trailer.
