Vanity: FR Screen Display (Google Chrome)
4-17-22 | Me

I've been viewing FR for well over twenty years, and the majority of the time I've used Google Chrome as my preferred browser on a Samsung tablet. Recently, FR font displays have appeared extremely small, even with font and zoom settings adjusted to maximum size. It's only that way on FR using Chrome. I can switch to Firefox and everything is fine, but was wondering if anyone else was having any similar problems.

Odd. Never heard if that kind of behavior before. If you have Windows, check your Refresh Rate. It’s a setting in the video settings. Just Google “change refresh rate” and give it a shot. Set it as high as possible. Usually 75 is the max.

OKAY. My password program told me my password for FreeRepublic was weak. I changed password to stronger one and I made donation with no problem.

Yes I am having the same issue on my Samsung S10 cell phone with Chrome. It has been updated but same issue as before.
Vivaldi has the same issue as it uses Chrome code.

FreeRepublc should be using this code below for font size for cell phone / smaller viewports. I do not see it in the code. I removed the < > carets:

meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1”

I had to switch to Firefox.

Yeah, getting the wrapping right is the real trick, especially on phones. Brave does work, for now.

Although I’m mainly an Android user, I’m curious as to what browser IOS users are using to get both font size and wrapping correct. Is Brave available and is it a unique code base (not Safari-Based).
