What constitutes expensive dog meat, does that mean a Chihuahua versus a German Shepard or some mutt versus a pure breed.

A friend of mine was in the Philippines sitting in a street cafe. His two local hosts were having a heated discussion as they looked out the window.

“What are you guy's talking about?”

“We're looking at the dogs in the street. He says the dark ones taste better, but I say the lighter ones are best. He's crazy - right!?”

The breed of dog eaten is the chow breed and it’s name in Chinese literally is Chow or food. Koreans are ethnically closer to Chinese than any other Asians so it’s little surprise they eat chow as well. I have had it both as stew and as skewers in Korea and here in the USA at a Vietnamese New Year’s party. It’s better than raccoon or squirrel meat by far. It’s closest to black bear meat in taste, color and texture.
