Asking you to back your assertion of a ridiculous statement. Please do so.

Friends ended a while ago. The residuals market is said to have changed quite a bit since then.

I don’t believe it is “self-evident”. Please explain your assertion.

A friend of mine’s mother and father in laws passed away.around 2 years ago. They had a reverse mortgage. One of my friends siblings and their spouse moved in to look after his mother in law. The Siblings never notified HUD that the parents are deceased and claimed to be executors with out filing paper work with the court. Every thing f value crept the house is gone. Taxes are piling up and they refuse to leave the house. As executors of the Estate they need to evict the relatives so the house can be sold. Crazy huh

I’m not arguing with anyone that would make a ridiculous assertion. That’s all.

The most “money” I have ever seen in one place was at a horse jumping competition years ago. This is where they jump over the 6+ foot high fences.
The SUVs were all Cadillac Escalades.
The horse trailers were hundreds of thousands.
The RVs were hundreds of thousands. Most were custom made Semi tractor types.
The women were all in excellent physical condition.

“That’s always an issue,” Selleck said. “If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

Welcome to the world of Bidenflation and California taxes, Tom.

I think he wants to sell his “ranch” and is getting free advertising to do so. With that said, he may either be downsizing his properties to better manage them or move to a lower tax state.

If you have to pay taxes on land, you don’t own it; you rent it.

Okay. I am trying to be polite. Please be specific and explain, if you can why you called it “ridiculous”.

I promise I won’t insult you by calling your explanation “ridiculous”. Just tell me. Don’t you want to educate a fellow Freeper?

Why do you think we are arguing? I am asking to you state why you think it was a ridiculous statement. It isn’t an argument.

In other times, this would be called “rational discourse”.

Can you tell me why you called my well thought out statement “ridiculous”? I really would like to know.

I decided to overlook the vulgarity, and do some research. When reverse mortgages first came out, the lender set the rules for when the loan became due. So a loan could come due when the borrower was away from his house for a month. That’s what I was familiar with.

HUD has since stepped in. Now: The loan comes due when you’ve been away for 6 months for a non-medical reason or for 12 months for a medical reason.

And that’s one nice thing about Free Republic. Sometimes folks have wrong or outdated ideas. That’s me in this case. Then usually someone else will come along with a correction, and hopefully a polite one.

I have always felt the same.

Right now, at this moment, I am awaiting a response from a Freeper on this very thread who called a post I made at #8 above "ridiculous" and appears to be refusing, after polite entreaties, to explain why he or she thinks it is "ridiculous".

It isn't beyond any of us to make a comment that is indeed ridiculous, but most rational people try to learn from those and avoid them.

Most Freepers understand this, so I am patiently waiting to find out.

Actually, one time in the past six months, but several years, before that.

Tom’s ranch used to be Dean Martin’s hideaway.
He was having serious water problems a few years ago trying to keep his avocados going.

He really should bail out of that foul ruined state.

I’m surprised he’s not in Montana, Wyoming or Utah.

“I’m surprised he’s not in Montana, Wyoming or Utah.”

He probably bought the California place when California was still Reagan country.

I’m surprised he’s not in Hawaii.

This is like finding out that Jack Lord or Don Ho was living in Cleveland.
