Check out this website for illegal/legal activities planned by the local far left anti everything whacko. This site could use a good freep!
Yes.
(Personally, I tend to be libertarian--or libertine--socially but conservative financially. I believe that individual initiative and responsibility are the keys to prosperity and that people are free to do whatever they wish, i.e. persue happiness. I think the death penalty should be abolished, abortion kept legal, stem-cell research definitely pursued, relatively harmless drugs, e.g. marijuana, peyote, MDMA, and LSD legalized.)
I was rather apolitical until the 1990's when I became appalled by what I witnessed on the national political scene and the behavior of supporters of the administration, especially members of the intelligentsia--news reporters, educators, celebrities, and most notably Liberals and Democrats. To me, this phenomenon represented the United States at its most decadent, and I am still of this opinion.
Furthermore, an increase in the power and authority of the centralized, federal government is the expressed agenda of Liberals and Democrats, and I think that the more power they acquire the more they will strengthen it.
For that reason alone, I feel that it is important to lend my support to the Libertarians and Republicans and do whatever I can to prevent further accumulation of power by Democrats and Liberals.
So, though I view with alarm anything that encroaches upon our liberty and our rights, (1) I think that George W. Bush is an honorable statesman whose primary concern is the good of the U.S.; (2) I think that he is doing less to strengthen the federal government than did his predecessor and than would a Democrat president; and (3) the U.S. is at war with international terrorism and has no choice in the matter; this war must be won; and George Bush is pursuing victory while encroaching on liberty as little as possible (in other words--nobody else could do it better.)
If Liberals and Democrats were in complete power, our chances of prevailing would be vastly diminished. They tend to be confused and lacking in resolve. It is they who diminished the effectiveness of our military and gave away the Panama Canal, a folly for which our children will pay dearly; who attenuated the U.S. intelligence gathering service and made the Sept. 11 attack possible; who have increased intitlement programs and made it possible for America to be flooded with illegal immigrants to its detriment.
I could go on and on, but, as you see, my opinion of Liberals and Democrats could hardly be worse.
I would very much appreciate your honest opinion of this. I would like very much to learn that I am mistaken. --SB
