Tektites, some of them, are blasts of material from the moon. Or so I was told a long time ago. The way they are strewn across a wide area indicates they came in a globule from somewhere like the moon. A moon impact would throw glassy debris far and wide, and some might hit the earth in a fairly tight pattern giving rise to a tektite field. Ejecta from recent mooon impacts seems to show rays of tight focus.

It's enough to make you crawl under the bed.

So I guess the theory that humongous zits caused the craters isn't being considered.

Too much greasy food in the diet, or genetics - one or the other.

Thanks blam. I ate the salad and my headache's mostly gone, sooooo, another dusty topic pinged, while watching the DVD of "Midsummer Night's Dream". This topic pertains to the peopling of the Americas to some extent. Please FREEPMAIL me if you want on, off, or alter the "Gods, Graves, Glyphs" PING list --
Archaeology/Anthropology/Ancient Cultures/Artifacts/Antiquities, etc.
The GGG Digest -- Gods, Graves, Glyphs (alpha order)

I wonder if the Nazis worked on some experiments in Argentina? I know of tektites, they are glass meteorites. For some reason, they are found in Texas and Australia.

Could those be sink holes?
If those are impact craters then the earth got a nasty pelting from some object that broke up and then struck the earth in 500,000 pieces. Would definitely be bad news if it happened today. You probably know that the chain impacts are thought to be the result of impact from a Shoemkaer-Levy type object eg a string of fragments traveling "in-line".
