What's your favourite Bond film?
The BBC ^ | 5/10/02

It is 40 years since Britain's most famous secret agent made his big screen debut in Dr No. Four decades on, 007 continues to generate massive box office receipts and keep audiences captivated by mixing suave gagetry, the latest in special effects and some of the best leading ladies Hollywood has on offer.

Interest in all things Bond is again at a premium with 007 about to embark on his 20th outing in Die Another Day, due to be released next month.

What is your favourite Bond film? Which of the five Bonds do you think is the best? Who is your favourite Bond girl?

"...some of the best leading ladies Hollywood has on offer.

Actually, Pinewood Studios found most of their (early) bond girls outside of Hollywood, if I'm not mistaken.

IMHO:

Best Film - From Russia With Love

Best Bond - Connery

Best Bond Girl - Daniella Bianchi

The Man With The Golden Gun, I like this film because it transplants one of my favorite Western Film formulas(the fastest gun versus the other fastest gun) into the Spy genre. Also the theme song gets stuck in my head for days.

I would have to say The Spy Who Loved Me

Favorite Bond girl: Barbara Bach as Major Anya Amasova

But I also like:
Talisa Soto as Lupe Lamora in "Licence to Kill" (1989)
Izabella Scorupco as Natalya Simonova in "Golden Eye" (1995)
Maryam d'Abo as Kara Milovy in "The Living Daylights" (1987)
Carole Bouquet as Melina in "For Your Eyes Only" (1981)

MWaGG is the best theme song. Most beautiful theme song is probably YOLT, though it's hard to believe it's sung by the same person that sang "These boots are made for walking".

BTW, one of the things I used to like about Bond opening-title sequences is that they would usually show the title of the movie at the same time as it was first sung. Exceptions included:

BTW, FRWL is probably the best Bond film of all time. Interesting how it seems so much "fresher" than the newest ones.

For Your Eyes Only
Goldfinger

Best Bond:
Sean Connery (no contest here)

Best girl:

Although I do like Carole Bouquet too

Best music score:

Though I always loved "Goldfinger", it just didn't hold up well over time. Strangely, for me, the '70's-dated "Live and Let Die" does, and is my favorite.

Sean Connery

Daniella Bianchi
