Ring Ping! 16 minutes of The Two Towers!
To: maquiladora
Cool! - How come it won't let me "save target as" on the high speed one? Granted, it is streaming nicely, but that won't last forever... any ideas?
To: maquiladora
It is a nice quality clip... stays sharp even stretched larger!
To: maquiladora
AAAWWW.... I love the lembas segment! "Nothing every dampens your spirit does it Sam?"
Maq.... do you suppose this is the "16 minutes" the early reviewers were talking about?
To: HairOfTheDog
It's streaming only, I'm afraid Hair! I can't figure out how to save it, I think you actually have to pay money to view this on the site, but somebody found the direct URL, dunno how long this will stay online for, perhaps somebody here can make a copy that we can save?
Looks great though, did you see that clip with Eowyn as the three hunters enter Edoras? Wow.
This is amazing...
To: maquiladora
No - I haven't gotten that far yet.... I am at the "we are lost" segment... I had to stop it and play the lembas again.
Now I am at the three hunters running, and Gimli grumbling about it.
To: maquiladora
Oh - Merry says, "we may have made a mistake leaving the Shire" Heh. Merry and Pippin talking about the trees!
To: maquiladora
Ohh! - Edoras was amazing! - Both clips!
To: HairOfTheDog
Only 16 minutes.... I am taken away. 13 days until all 3 hours.
To: ican'tbelieveit
It was wonderful wasn't it?
Goodness every single minute is so charged for me. I may keel over! Frodo's segments break my heart. Merry and Pippin have some great stuff in these clips. and that Eowyn and Aragorn dialogue is right out of the book. Wonderfully done. I am gonna like her.
To: HairOfTheDog
That scene with the flag of Rohan is pure genius!
The symbolisim and poignant feeling it gives....amazing...
Can't - Wait - Any - Longer!
To: maquiladora
I am gonna just let this play through for awhile. The scenes with Frodo were wonderful, the scenes with Merry and Pippin were wonderful. The flag was wonderful, Eowyn was wonderful. Everything is wonderful!
To: maquiladora
Our CTO just came running up here shreiking, "WHO'S STREAMING!?", so I had to shut it down.
If anyone can get this on a server so we can download it directly as a clip, that would rock the Casbah.
To: ItsOurTimeNow; ecurbh
Dang! - Busted! - What a drag! - I don't know how to download it... ecurbh?
To: Ramius
Ping - You need to see this! - Very exciting!
To: HairOfTheDog
Getting to see Merry and Pippin grow up. Poor Pip just wants to go back to the Shire, but Merry realizing that if we don't win, there will be no Shire. That was moving.
To: ican'tbelieveit
Oh so you did see a good deal of it then, before you got busted! Did you get to see Edoras too? Or is that where you got caught?
To: HairOfTheDog
I got to see the whole thing.

Ok, I am blown away. My favorite part of the movie will inevitably be the battle scenes. I expect Helm's Deep to be the greatest battle scene ever filmed, until the Battle of Pelanor Fields next year. I am also looking forward to "seeing the Ents lay the smackdown" on Isengard as it was put in another review. None of these scenes, except the actual trailer, had anything like battle or action, yet I am still amazed. You have made my day by posting this.
Maquiladora, you have my sword. I owe you my allegiance.

She sure does need a hug. I hope she doesn't have too much trouble finding one.
My Frodo needs a hug too.
The scenes with Merry and Pippin are wonderful! Glad to be seeing that!

MORE FROM TORN: ecurbh - you may want to ping 'em again. The warg stuff is intense from that WB special.

Did you get the second set of stuff posted up there? - It is downloadable Quicktime clips, so that might work better and satisfy in the interim.
To: BibChr
What is it about this trilogy, books, film, characters, whatever - that makes me cry too. I love the characters as if they were my friends.

I know what you mean. LOTR, while I've always enjoyed it, didn't used to affect me that way, when I was younger. But I'm 47 now, and those themes of innocence, loyalty, dogged and unstoppable determination, bravery, loss, sacrifice... the path I've walked has "upped" their value considerably, and given me an experiential context I lacked as a younger man.

I get only the audio. Any suggestions, anyone? Is it more likely my PC (with dial-up), or has the site changed its output?
To: GretchenEE
Your connection just can't support it. It is a 35 MB file - pretty big to be streaming anyway, let alone on dialup. Bummer, because we still can't figure out how to download it. You ought to be able to pick up the shorter new clips I posted later on in the thread.
To: maquiladora
Oooooohhhh I'm looking forward to this. Gandolf in the court of the King downdressing that little fork tongued twit. Can't wait.

Someone at TORN has reported where you can download the 16 minute video. The clip itself is 30 MB. It played fine for me in Windows Media Player, but TORN says you might need DivX to play. I would recommend saving it to disk and then watching it, otherwise internet traffic might cause hiccups or slowdowns while watching it.

Wonderful James!
Get it if you can folks, while it lasts! It's big. I am clocking it at 17 minutes on cable, which is a long time on cable.
To: HairOfTheDog
17 minutes to download, not the length of it.... Heh....

Spoiler alert!
Downloadable link above! Right Click JameRetief's link and "save target as" enormous file, but worth it if you can get it in the door.
Sorry for the duplicate pings for some of you that are on both lists.
To: HairOfTheDog
I used
Download Accelerator Plus and it took me about 3 minutes using cable.
It's definitely one of my favorite apps when downloading large files.
To: JameRetief
Wow.... can the dialup people use that too? - I have not heard of it.
They need it more than I do, 17 min is not too long to wait in the big scheme of things!
To: HairOfTheDog
They can use it too and it can help to ensure that they are using all available bandwidth to download with. For those with high bandwidth connections, the differences are quite noticeable.
To: JameRetief
Yeah - I may buy it!
To: HairOfTheDog
I use the free version myself since the free (ad payed) version works just as well as the payed (non-ad) version. The ads are quite non-intrusive and don't interefere with the program at all.
To: JameRetief; HairOfTheDog
Fresh Download does the same thing without the ads or spyware -- and it is free!
