How are your plans for Christmas Eve dinner coming along? We're going out to dinner on Christmas Eve! My mom called and told me last week. The only person resisting is my youngest sister (it won't be peaceful.) My dad says it will be peaceful after we get home from dinner. Christmas Eve isn't a big deal in my family, it will be my parents, and the unmarried children (four of us.) We usually do dinner, then read from Luke the story of the Savior's birth. Then my dad asks one of us to wrap my mom's present. Tradition!

That's right, no grudges.
Except against people who like snow.
And the Packers.
And whatever you do, DO NOT tell them when your birthday is, coz they will hound you 'til the end of time! ;-)

The Chairman may call a Conference at any time and shall call a Conference whenever requested to do so by the Policy Committee or in writing by 5 or more Senators. As I read this sentence, it means Lott has the authority to call a Conference wherever and whenever he feels like it. It also says IF 5 members request a Conference in writing he MUST call a Conference.
The 5 signature rule prevents a Leader from sandbagging if he fears the worst.
Going now to read the Conference Rules.

How did your interview go yesterday?

Might you consider seeing a doctor, Neets?
Surely I was not going to mention to the Iron Lady of ATRW that maybe a physician might be the ticket...

As for the Interstate Commerce clause, all that this means is that the states will not place tariffs and other undue restrictions on goods from other states. The Interstate Commerce Clause, in its entirety:
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
The clause does not speak only to tariffs or a proscription upon the states on restricting goods from other states. It says "regulate Commerce ... among the several states."
This clause exists, in my mind, due to the Federal nature of our country, that it was meant to be a union of several autonomous states. For this to be true, then there has to be an arbitrar since this means the states are not allowed to make treaties between themselves (in fact, it is expressly forbidden for states to make interstate agreements without the consent of Congress). In this vein, it falls to Congress to address this gap that would otherwise exist in the relationships between the states.
This is an abbreviated version as I'm about to head on off to a holiday party. I could write much longer on this subject, but am sadly constrained.

As I understand, the vote for ML is secret. No one knows who votes for who.

Oh...I think it went well. There were four very hard questions ( just like in the first interview) - this organization seems to think that every position warrants three interviews: first with a panel, then the manager of the department and the director, then one with the Ass't. Superintendent.
I won't know a thing until January. Have you heard anything about yours?
To: Dog
I'm not sure.
To: Miss Marple
