I have a final interview tomorrow. There are three of us left standing. However, there are a couple of options on the table. One is I would go to Massaschusetts and Connecticut for almost four months to train. They are also asking for volunteers to go to Bangalore for a few months (not for me, thank you very much.) If I take the job, it mean I would have to move to Connecticut, an option which would be interesting right now. I'm leaning towards the four month training session right now...
To: Utah Girl
Forgive me, but if you go to Conn. to train, would you then ave to move there? I would think Conn. is quite different than Utah!?! Are you ready for the shock?
Well, good luck in making the right decision for you...
To: Holding Our Breath
Yes, if I take the job, I would have to move. If I take the training job, it would be temporary (4 months.) I don't think I could stand to have whiny voiced Joe Lieberman as my senator. Connecticut is a beautiful state, I'm not so sure I want to live there...

Good afternoon all. Well, I just mailed off the last boxes to our relatives in the midwest. All the Christmas cards are sent and the tree is up. WHEW!!!! Ok, I can freep for a few hours.
I see the creep is in the news again. Since he's our first black president, he knows all about race issues, right? NOT!!!!
And how much longer do we have to hear about Trent Lott?

Well, having read the Conference Rules, it appears to me that Lott may be playing fast and loose with the rules of the Conference.
At the beginning of each Congress, or within one week thereafter, a Republican Party Conference shall be held. At that Conference there should be elected the following officers: Floor Leader Assistant Floor Leader Chairman of the Conference Vice Chairman of the Conference Chairman of the Policy Committee Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee
Since there appears to be no mention of WHEN Leadership votes CANNOT be taken, the November Leadership election wasn't in violation of Conference Rules.
What none of us know, is what type of agreement was made or vote taken as to whether or not the November Leadership election was binding into the next Conference. All they needed to do was, 'vote to suspend the rules'.
IF during the nomination of Senator Lott, the person nominating him said, "Mr. Chair, I move to suspend the rules and nominate Trent Lott as Majority Leader of the next Congress" then another election is probably not necessary.
However, given the recent brush up: Even if Lott has the votes to stay in his post, he may choose to hold a vote of confidence vote in January, just to prove his point.
(Going back to read further and see what exceptions to my above theory I can find,,,,, and it's no wonder I never get anything done when I'm at home, I get into this stuff and can't let it go)

Last week, a local liberal talk-radio show jock, was discussing the"up-coming" election for Republican Senate ML... And that IF Senator Bond voted for Lott as ML, what would that do to his chances in 2004? Now, from what I've read on FR, this vote is held behind closed doors. Does it become common knowledge how each Senator votes for the leadership position? Should it?
See how it works? Read a major market newspaper and you will find no direct references to this as "the election" for ML; you will also find no direct references to the fact that "the election" for ML has already taken place. Context, context, context. Insidious.
Well, Mr. Vote Counter from Mississippi is in for the biggest count of his life. The question remains, if he falls, where does he land? All the hypocrisy and vitriol in the world ain't nothin' next to the next two years of Court appointments. That is, after all, the ultmiate motivation behind the attacks on Lott, power.
Iowa Granny, I'll look forward to hearing what you dig up from reading the Conference Rules. There's more to it, obviously, especially since those Rules are dated June/2002. I'll perhaps place a call to the Senate and see what can be dug up.
Utah Girl, thanks for your good work here.

Well, I am being lazy and letting you folks interpret it! I start reading stuff like that and my eyes glaze over.
Well, I am going to FINALLY finish wrapping packages, and then we will be all set, except for baking and the carpet cleaning on Monday.
