  1. Upload the image file to a publically accessable web site somewhere.
  2. Edit your homepage and put an image tag in to point back to the image on the web site... for example:

    <img src="http://my.website.com/mypic.jpg">

    Don't forget the double-quotes.

I have several examples. Sometimes your ISP will give you some disk space for a personal web page, and you can upload files to there. And there are "free web" sites around, like Tripod or Geocities or Angelfire or Freeservers where you can sign up for free disk space on their web servers and it won't cost you any money. You don't get much -- just a few megabytes, but that's more than enough for a few JPGs.

Be aware that some of these places will try to sell you a domain, or web hosting services, but that's not what you want. If something asks you for a credit card number, back out and try again.

Certain sites don't let you link the photos that you store there. That's true of Yahoo/Geocities.

Does the ISP you use to connect to the Net offer a home page for you? Mine (Roadrunner) does. I host graphics there and put them on pages on occasion. If not you may have to pay a small fee to store linkable photos - free sites are fewer every day and I can't think of any now.

See how I linked the photos and graphics on my profile page. Also here's a couple images:

I use an FTP program to upload images, etc. to a web site.
