I agree with 2 but I can't agree with 1. It is a great album full of innovation but not as good as it could have been if Brian had stayed away from the "d" word.

Pet Sounds . . . Worst Album cover ever
Honestly, my DH was a teen-age boy when Pet Sounds came out. He loved the BB, but said he would not have been caught dead buying a record with a picture of whichever BB it was bottle-feeding a goat.
DUH TO MANAGEMENT ALERT.

I never was a big country fan, but I like a few of the artists. It seems a shame that washed-up rockers are waltzing in and attempting to reshape it into the same crappy image that killed their careers. It's going hand-in-hand with the liberal bail-out from big cities. The libs have killed off the areas they controlled for years with overtaxation and insane policies. Now they're on the move, coming to a rural area near you to start the process all over again.

I'll check it out.

Your right we Americans worship our entertainers. (I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for the bunch of them.) Most Americans can name the 'Friends', but can't tell you the recent history of Afghanistan or how we beat the U.S.S.R.
That is why we must expose the idiocy and hope for even one awakening.

Also not as good as if they had dropped "John B." and added "Good Vibrations" instead.
So far I am batting .1000 on the worst album cover conclusion.
BTW, to make matters worse, I saw on one of those BB docudramas that the name "Pet Sounds" referred to the fact that the record was full of Brian's pet sounds,i.e., pennies in a jar, blenders, etc., all the wierd stuff he folded into the music.
It had nothing to do with bottle-feeding goats, which (rightly) turned off the record-buying public.
A fitting cover would have been a psychedelic graphic. The white album in color.

Although I must admit I would take the Pet Sounds album cover over any of the Blimpy Chimps album covers:

Kansas was unique That they were, part of what made them great and probably part of why they are only being played on oldies stations any more. There is something in pop music that doesn't love an artist. Jethro Tull, Yes, ELP, there are too many actual artists to mention. I didn't like all of them, but I can still recognize them.
Shalom.

Also not as good as if they had dropped "John B." and added "Good Vibrations" instead.Or even just have John B vocals only. That's on the Pet Sounds box set and they are beautiful without the insrtumental track! Good Vibrations--incredible!

When I go to a tanning bed I wear overalls, a white t-shirt, my John Deere ball cap, and workboots. I got sophisticated for a while and I like being my old self much better.

I checked. You are lionizing the music (rightly), NOT the cover. The cover is an mishap that, unfortunately, must be reproduced every time the album is referenced.
I also love 2nd Chapter of Acts.

OK I went and looked. Somebody needs to photo shop the "tourist guy" into the Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds covers. It seems natural.

Vichy Chicks is not a "hateful name". It's an example of hilarious FR humor...". Please let me fill you in on some other the other names...
Blixie Chicks
Dipsey Twits
Dixie Chunks (just Natalie, really)
I can't remember all of them anymore, but these were pretty good.
It's OK to want to discuss things like "adults" on certain topics, but we're talking about the Dixie Chicks/Natalie Maines, for Pete's sake, NOT Marie Curie (a french chick, but not a "Vichy" chick). :)
"Lighten up", is right.
To: Joe Whitey
I specifically said the the wearing of the FUTK shirt at the ACM awards was directed at Keith and his responses to her comments and jabs, not specifically at the song. 170 posted on 05/28/2003 12:25 PM CDT by Joe Whitey Your post is still there - it says that it was directed at Toby Keith "not his song". Nothing about "specifically".
