The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

My dad's family is from around Allentown, specifically Whitehall.
Granddaddy and his two brothers all left and never returned except for a funeral here and there. One went to Tomah WI, one went to Williamsburg VA, and my granddaddy went to Philadelphia MS (where my dad was born).

Oh my gosh! I gave my wife a shirt to wash last night, with a chocolate chip cookie in the pocket.
I just now observered the result. I thought it was fish blood until I smelled it.

I gave my wife a shirt to wash last night, with a chocolate chip cookie in the pocket. LOL, you are as bad as my guys. I have found little fishes, minnows, in the shirt pockets after laundering. And all kinds of lures and hooks. But not a cookie.. not one I found anyway. You are brave to have smelled it.!

You know, I still get a thrill everytime I get close to home and get a call from KB5TDZ - my uncle. It's a real charge to have it in the family! Don't know if I told you or not but Myranda is BSN and I'm BSO. So, we're next to each other too! :-)

Msdrby is talking about stepping up to the plate. I gave Spiderboy an old 800MHz radio for a toy. A few days later, the radio itself turned up in the shack, without the mic. I went looking and found the mic plugged into the phone jack on the wall. Same RJ45 plug. He loves it that way.

I think right after Thanksgiving is way too early. Right after Halloween is downright insane. I chuckled at myself Saturday at WalMart. For the first time in my life I was glad they had Christmas stuff out so early so I could buy the Christmas tree for the platoon. But, I still grumbled.... as I bought their little tree. LOL

Sam, Corin, I have kin from VA a number of generations back. Does that count for anything? 'Course it does. It all started here.
Hmm, I have to go way back to get to my VA ancestors. It's downright Pre-Revolutionary. Ca 1650 Jamestown VA (and later Middlesex Co) - Alden and Mickelborough families. They were in Oglethorpe Co., GA by the early 1800's.

Okay, I'm trying to work on my sewing machine again. I can't find my machine oil. Think it would be okay if I used another kind of oil? I've got lots of *other* kinds.
