The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hose down the driveway?

That would be illegal here. No watering outside. Besides, it would only make grass grow in the cracks of the driveway and I try to kill that. I haven't put out roundup in a couple of weeks.

Just talked to Mac on the phone though. They are saying the flight is on time there... but it is still in flight.... and it was supposed to land at 2:43. He is waiting by himself with a rose. He doesn't see her dad there and I showed him a bunch of pictures so he would recognize him.... of course he has aged 15 years so Mac may not know him.

Day is getting slightly better. I've been reading quietly. I'm kinda tired but don't want to take a nap.

I am thinking about a nap. ecurbh is still fussing with his computer so going and doing something outside seems unlikely.

don't have a lawnmower. and I ain't goin' outside where I can't hear the phone. Mac is calling - eventually.

Okay, here is something weird. Yesterday and today an ice cream truck has come by my house. It is not freezing but pretty chilly for ice cream. Most of the spring and summer I sat in here with the windows open in the hot weather and never did I hear an ice cream truck.

Bye Sam. I like ice cream in cold weather too. But, I would think a truck would generate more sales in summer!

Perhaps it just completes its rounds faster in the winter? And it would, in the summer, come by at a time when you weren't about?

Well, Myranda is in Dallas now picking up something to eat with her dad, his fambly and Mac. She is back in the promised land again! :-)

Well, I only worked 2 mornings a week in the summer. I'm thinkin' I woulda heard it sometime or other. I'm sittin' in the same chair I spent most of the summer in and now I've got the house all closed up!

There's probably more posted somewhere. I have been proudly posting Steve's pics anywhere I can and shamelessly promoting him at every oppurtunity.

He has a brother and two sisters that I am proud of too and don't even get me started on my 12 grand children.

I think there are some knives on the way to his platoon and a "care package" to Steve. I appreciate everything that is done on his behalf and he does too.

I'll ask him about the logo and see if he can send me a picture.

Maybe they aren't ice cream men at all, but thieves using a truck as their clever disguise.

Did I ever tell you the story about our ice cream man? The one we had before Joshua was born? I was expecting Joshua "any minute" and this ice cream man drove through our neighborhood like a bat out of hell. You had to really bust out the door in time to catch him or he'd go flying by...a mere smidgen of "It's a Small World" is all you'd catch!

And he was surly! The grouchiest fellow you'd ever wanna meet...he'd just scowl at you and practically heave your ice cream at you. He just acted crazy!

One day, it comes on the news that OUR ice cream man was caught waving a gun and shooting at passers-by in an intersection near our house! They go to his house and find he's shot his wife to death and gassed his kid to death.

He was crazy, all right.

I remember the last time I got an ice cream from him. My mother in law and I were sitting in the livingroom, basically talking and waiting for me to go into labor. Suddenly, I hear the ice cream man! I leap out of the chair and made a mad dash for the door! The plate glass screen door STUCK and I SLAMMED into the door! My mother in law had no idea what was going on, so imagine what she must have thought! LOL I'm shouting "WAIT!!! WAIT!!!" and trying to get the screen door unjammed. I finally did and got out there in the nick of time!

I remember thinking years ago that if I ever got to have any children, I would always buy them ice cream from a truck and I would always let them ride on the little rides outside of stores...you know, like the horses...cars and such. So I was bound and determined to get Matthew an ice cream from that crazy man! I often missed him, though...about half the time. I bet he went 60 miles an hour through our neighborhood...

Dang!! Looks like I missed a great tailgate party!! Well, I'm gonna go make some biscuits to go with our pork chops for supper!
