Chechen Muslim Mufti declares Jihad on Terrorism

GROZNY, Russia, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Chechnya's top Muslim cleric declared war on terrorism Thursday.
Sultan Mirzayev, the mufti of Chechnya, said the Wahabi branch of Islam is a "plague," Interfax news agency reported. Wahabi Islam is an extremely conservative version of the faith centered in Saudi Arabia.
"Those who kill innocent people should either be stopped, or arrested, or destroyed," Mirzayev said. "This should be done by all means."
The mufti told reporters the declaration of jihad was drawn up at a meeting between Muslim leaders and law enforcement officials.
Chechen Vice Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov said the decision is important because law enforcement officers must know action against terrorists does not violate Islam and the teachings of the Koran.

Well, he's got the right attitude, but it sure seems like there are some Chechen's who are also employing terrorism...of course the Russians aren't exactly good landlords either...not that terrorism is every justified.
