You do? Who says? The Mexican government or the American government? Last I checked, the King of Spain claimed the land that was later claimed by Los Estados Unidos de Mexico, established 1821. And that claim would pretty much negate yours....if it wasn't for that rather large contingent of Anglo fellows who showed up along with their bad attitudes about 170 years ago now.
The point is this bunky: No one's honked off about a few wretches camping out on the West shore of Lake Travis. Or wherever "your" dirt is. But it is a concern when the numbers become so large that the citizens of Mexico and their offspring are the majority population in the Southwest. You simply have to ask the question "Is it the U.S.?" when that happens. All the happy talk about assimilation and "Can't we all just get along" won't make the reality go away: Mexicans - i.e., people with loyalty to that people, that form of government, that history - will be making the decisions for pretty much everyone who previously thought they were under U.S. law and customs.
Personally I doubt that your "ownership" of that property will survive that eventuality. The recovery of "stolen land" from the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo is one of the major goals. Just ask Reyes Tijerina.
Willing to risk your life, liberty and property on the good will of the Mexican people and government? I'm not.
You may want to consult your attorney about the applicability of adverse possession in this case. Especially if an amnesty is approved.

I am a lot less alarmed about some seasonal workers out there several months of the year than I am about meth manufacturers who set up camp in some of the places (like mine) that are out in the boonies.
As far as adverse possession. I'd be more worried about some of the rich white developers in this area moving the fences, and making such a claim.
Yeah, it sure gives ya a warm fuzzy feeling, doesn't it. Just wait until the next disaster / "terrorist incident" when they'll be armed and working crowd control.

As do I. We knew it was coming, just wasn't expecting it so soon. BTW, are you as irritated with the Mexican Jack in the Box commercial as I am. It totally grates on every nerve. The tv is switched each and every time. I have never had such a true hatered of a commercial before.
You only go out to your land every 3 years. You know you have illegals on it. You don't know what they're doing or growing. You paying a heck of a lot more than mere property tax - medical, education, or and do they drive? How about their trash and waste on your land and floating down into a neighbor's drinking well? You're setting yourself up for arrest and/or your land being confiscated. But hey, you don't care.
And might I say that would only make good sense.
At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.
Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.
If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.
Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.
There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.
