I tend to agree with you here. There has not been any terror attacks since 9/11 and I know this is due to constant vigilence by the Bush administration. I don't believe he'd risk terror attacks by allowing a transfer such as this that might bring about what the administration has fought so hard to avoid.

Still I'm troubled. Two things here.

First, has anybody considered that this repulsion at the suggestion of an Arab company managing our ports is the fault of the Arabs themselves?

I mean the American public has witnessed attacks on our own soil, death of our own citizens, destruction of our lawfully built buildings.

After this we've been subjected to constant press on these people, almost none of it good. Go to hell these nuts are rioting over cartoons for God sakes. Now what do you think the average American thinks of this?

They cut off heads, they pledge to kill the infidels, the list goes on and on. And we've all lamented the lack of excoriation of the Islamofacists from so-called mainstream Muslims. This is a region that uses religion to quash their populace and generally is anathema to all things American. The sight bites of those rioting Muslims over cartoons does not help.

How long are they going to act like heathans before the American populace says...ENOUGH ALREADY. The line, I conclude, is drawn at having to tolerate these people in our own country.

That's the problem, their nasty image has been plastered everywhere and go on, they deserve not to be trusted. The halo over the UAE will not blind anyone, may I remind?

Given a choice they are at best two-faced, at worst they are dangerous and would love to take over America what wants to bring democracy and separate the poobahs, mullahs, dictators and despots from their oil wealth?

I mean, hey, maybe this is the price they pay for their behavior...you think?

Second matter here, Bush has to step up to the podium and explain this to us. We'll listen. We're not stupid out here in la-la land. This whole thing seems to have sprung up out of nowhere.

Maybe if the UAE, a bunch of rich Arab shieks banded together to control the endless oil money for God's sakes, had take a sterner stand on the rest of the Muslim world they wouldn't be in this position. Maybe it's time we show them there's a price to boorish uncivilized behavior.

In all my life I've never seen Rush Limbaugh so wrong on anything. It's all about the image THEY'VE created of their "civilization". Either the president explains it in a way that makes sense or for once Americans are simply not going to buy it. Chuck Schumer, hey, THIS time he's not being politically opportunistic. I think this is really a reaction to his constituent complaints.

Bush needs to explain it all to this citizen.

Well Jimmy Carter backs Bush on this issue so your logic is very flawed.

A much better way to figure out which decision is best is to research the issue.

Many of these cultural norms we find idiotic, and many are. But if you wish to be the major economic and military power in the world, compromise in this area is crucial.

Enjoy your muslim masters. As for most of us, we will not convert or submit. There is no compromise with people that have openly stated they will kill you or convert you.

I'm still in disbelief that we would allow ANY foreign country run any of our ports. It would seem basic for ANY country to want to be in charge of their own ports. Historically, I thought this would be a basic rule for any country's security. This is just incredible.
