Hostage situation may be developing.

Not many details available yet, but an incident has been reported from Mine Rd. in Bart Township in Lancaster County involving multiple gunshot victims. Dennis Buterbaugh reports live from our newsroom. abc27 has a news crew on the way. We will update with details as they become available.

NICKEL MINES, Pa. — At least two female students and one slightly older female — who may have been a teacher's aide — were shot and killed execution style in what police say may be a revenge killing for something that happened 20 years ago.
State Police Commissioner Jeffrey Miller said Monday that truck driver Charles Carl Roberts IV entered the one-room Amish schoolhouse in earlier in the day. The gunman brought in pieces of wood to board up the doors to the building when he entered the school. He also stacked desks against the building's doors.
"It appears that the suspect entered school with the intention of taking hostages," Miller said.
Roberts had wire ties and plastic flex cuff, which he used to begin tying the hostages feet together after they were lined up along a blackboard. He let go 15 male students, as well as one adult female who was pregnant. Three other non-student females with infants were also allowed to leave. One shotgun and one handgun was found next to the suspect when police entered the building.
"It seems as though he wanted to attack young, female victims," Miller said.
After a half hour inside, Roberts began shooting. When the gunfire stopped, three females were found shot dead at the scene, along with the suspect, who shot himself, Miller said. At least seven more victims — some critically wounded — were transported to nearby hospitals, he said. One victim, a young girl, died in the arms of a trooper, Miller said. He could not confirm how many people died en route or at the hospital. The county coroner earlier reported six children killed but then backed off of that statement.

Charles Carl (or Karl?) Robert IV was gunman.
We lived a bit north of the Amish center of gravity in PA, but there were some and my Dad would go to Amish auctions, and ended up giving one family rides quite a bit.
So indeed people shouldn't have this image of a guy in a literal taxi cab with a meter and a light on the top out driving Amish around, in regards to the reports the perp was a taxi driver.
The shooter was only 32yrs old!

The Amish community have set up wards: rules and behaviour to preserve their own innocence and godliness. I don't know yet if the killer came from outside, or if he came from within the Amish community (I rather doubt it). But today there is a red mark on the door.

OK. Like this was an Amish school. Just how much more insular or how much more Jesus guidance would have prevented something like this?
Perhaps your Jesus guidance inoculates your young people better than any other.
No matter what we do either as a religious community or a secular one, these things still seem to happen. Why?
I just stated reading a book about the Amish and the practice of rumspringa where the youth, with permission of their parents are allowed to taste all that the secular world has to offer before making a final commitment to the Amish way of life.

The Amish believe that by giving the young people a choice they will choose the Amish way of life willinging and without regret.
Perhaps this has nothing to do with this tragic event. Any community, no matter how religious and God fearing can harbor a crazy person.
UPDATE – this was not an Amish person but 32 year old truck driver living in the area.
So much for the rumors about Roy, a 70 yr old, should tell us not to listen to RUMORS!

My folks live down the road in Lebanon PA, I wonder if they know anything about this...
He left a suicide note for his wife before he did his evil deed.
Claims he was ticked for 20yrs about something and wanted revenge.
