The Candidate (Rudy Giuliani in NH)
The American Spectator ^ | 1/29/2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 01/29/2007 1:36:27 PM PST by Dark Skies

Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.

Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.

"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

How are you planning on winning with 2% Hunter ... and kicking out the 32% Giuliani?

I'm just curious.

=======>Essentially, you're telling us you don't want our vote.

>>>>>No, I'll telling you that you're planning on driving over a cliff and the built-in-air-bags won't be much help.

LOL

Should this thread be about the pros and cons of Rudy or should it be about whether Freepers can support a candidate who is part of the Republican party?

Look at the chart I've posted detailing Giuliani's views vs. the GOP Party's views. Then tell me if Giuliani is really a "part" of the Republican Party. If he is, he's a trojan horse.

Check out post #1035. A Rudy Booster declares abortion to be a constitutional right.

"And I think the people who call themselves "real conservatives" here need the 32%+ who are voting for Rudy...."

Giuliani will not get 32% of the vote and you know it. You're purposely trying to sound stupid.

Ask Rudy.

How is Rudy able to answer the question I just asked you? Is this a site where we can only support some Republican candidates but not others?

Hunter has got room to grow and he will. Rudy is stuck where he's at. In the big field, 35%-40% max. You won't win a general election with that level of support.

The Republican party is backing Rudy running as a Republican.

The inaccuracy in this statement is stunning. First, Rudy is not officially "running" yet.

Second, the Republican Party doesn't "back" anyone in the Primary Election.

If RUDY isn't the center of gravity right now, then why has this thread gone over a thousand replies? Can that be said for any other possible candidate, and he hasn't even declared yet.

I think the "real" conservative voters are saying they don't want our support ... take our 32 plus percent elsewhere. And their 2% Hunter is not going to win.

Is this now a site where we can ONLY support some Republicans but not others?

Yes. This is a CONSERVATIVE website. We back only CONSERVATIVES. Maybe you'll want to review Jim Robinson's statements from earlier this morning and the site's mission statement and statement from the founder.

How is Rudy able to answer the question I just asked you?

He spoke with his actions. He had no problem endorsing a Democrat for guv in 1994. So by Rudy's own actions, it's OK to vote Dem.

So you have no link to your claim that Nancy Reagan is in charge of who gets the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award. I figured.

Excellent post, M2, laying out why you support Giuliani.

I don't agree with you, but I wish that was the way all Rudy discussions were conducted.

So, what does Hunter get? 10% ... to 32% for Rudy?

How does Hunter win?

Most important is Hunter has remained consistant on the issues. Of the two (Hunter/Rudy) who has already started to pander and back pedal but has not even committed yet?

I am a Republican and am one of the few in my district in Queens, NY

OK. We've established that you've registered your Party Preference in Queens, NY as a Republican.

But, you did not answer my question. Are you an actual Member of the Republican Party?

I didn' say you were or were not pro-abortion. Rudy is the abortion lover, and those who support him are his fans. Supporting Rudy makes people, as i wrote, abortion-lover fans.

=======>Since the right to an abortion is currently allowed, I will defend this right and will not have the temerity to fly in the face of the Constitution.

>>>>>OH MY GOD. YOU JUST CALLED ABORTION A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.

That is the liberal position.

Reagan had it right:

"Our nation-wide policy of abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy was neither voted for by our people, nor enacted by our legislators--not a single state had such unrestricted abortion before the Supreme Court decreed it to be national policy in 1973. [It was] an act of raw judicial power"...

"Make no mistake, abortion-on-demand is not a right granted by the Constitution. Nowhere do the plain words of the Constitution even hint at a "right" so sweeping as to permit abortion up to the time the child is ready to be born."
