Just my most very humble opinion.......
Glock 30 in .45 ACP and Glock 27 in .40 S&W. Both of them can carry 10-11 rounds nicely, and are very compact.

357 snubbie revolver, then you can also shoot 38special(+p) etc.
Simplicity itself.
For a pistol, try the Springfield XD; about in that price range.
Good hunting :)

I would recommend a .45ACP revolver... Smith and Wesson makes a nice one.
You get ammunition flexibility.... No difficulty in feeding hollowpoints, and even potential to shoot .45 GAP rounds if there is a shortage.
Moon clips, either half or full give you fast reloads.

You may want to consider the Taurus Judge. It is a .45 caliber that also shoots .410 shotgun shells. It is a very high quality revolver that you can get in various barrel lengths.

I just recently purchased a ParaOrdnance Warthawg. It’s a compact .45 with a 10 rnd magazine and a 3 1/2 inch barrel. After putting 500 rnds through the muzzle to loosen it up, I’m very happy with this weapon. I have 2 .357 revolvers and 2 Glock model 22s, and this for me is the ideal CCW.

.32 Mag is pretty sweet for the price. The hollow tip shells go in as a little hole and come out a big one. I have a little revolver that is safe to carry around and hide on my secured personage.

Two suggestions:
The Springfield Armory XD Subcompact - .40 Cal. I use a Tucker IWB (tuckable) holster for it and it disappears under almost any shirt.
Very sweet shooting. Grip is actually thinner than a 1911.
Also, the Kel-Tec PAF 9mm. Very thin. Pocket carry pistol. You wouldn’t want to shoot this all day, but hey! That’s not what you want a carry gun for anyway, right?

This is a mixed bag insofar as your requirements, but one I covet regardless - The Taurus Judge:
5 shot. 3" barrel. Chambers .45 Colt and .410 Magnum shotshells - simultaneously, if you choose. 36 oz. $608.00.
I wantone.

If you haven’t bought a gun yet for home defense or carrying in your car, you had better start with that before you think you’re going to carry a .45 Auto with you every day.
The big boys do carry 9MM in our military. The problem is they are restricted to fully jacketed bullets. You aren’t.
The barrel length isn’t be problem with concealment. It’s the grip frame.
If you’re new at this, you’re better off with a .38/.357 revolver with a shrouded hammer.

There's a reason the big boys don't use 9mm.
You should just get it over with and get a Glock tomorrow. Get it in .45 GAP to cement your genius. You'll fit right in with the lowest IQ firearm owners group in America.
Internal hammer.
Wants a "double action" that one doesn't have to cock.
High capacity "clip."
How ever do those pansies in the US NAVY SEALS get by with their lowly, hammer fired 9mms?
Run, don't walk, and become a stereotypical Glock owner ASAP please.

CZ 75 P01 9mm (think they avail in .40 and .45 but not sure)
Best auto pistol I own out of five of them. Became my daily carry, not counting times I’m limited to a mouse gun.

The latest version of Beretta’s rotating lockup pistol is called a PX4 or some such, available on gunbroker.com for around 550. That wold be a heavy caliber pistol which was basically accurate.
