Decades ago, people had to work hard for making products for living and for fun. Outsourcing and globalization have changed it at all. If 100 million guys in China, India or Vietnam can make goods for the world, what should other guys do?
One way is to limit the globolization process so that more guys are in work because the productivity is reduced; otherwise people may accept this and just do exactly nothing. Before we achieve another techonological breakthrough like nuclear power or the Internet, we must find a way to deal with the high productivity that is making troubles. If people do not need achievement to satisfy themselves, the thing is much easier.
Another concern is that globolization may enlarge the a poverty gap in developed countries because labour forces is worth less and capital is worth more products.

Obvious: take advantage of the fact that they don't have to spend all their time making basic stuff. I write software for medical devices, saving & prolonging lives; would you rather have a system where I'd be making pots & pans instead?
Those "100M who make everything" aren't designing "everything", aren't using "everything", and aren't enjoying the benefits of "everything".
Here's a thought: rather than posting vapid inanities about how great the world would be if we all went back to 1923, how about YOU try making ALL the stuff that YOU use? you have a theory for everyone else to live by, how about you show us how great it is before forcing it on everyone else? Hint: it's been tried, and failed to the tune of millions dead.

The rest of us could get government jobs. That would be totally unproductive but still get us out of the house a couple days a week.
