We can have either a majority in Congress, or ideological purity. We can’t have both. The country is deeply divided, just about 50/50. So you want to get rid of seven senators because they’re four points short of 100% on the ACU scale? I’m a conservative. Don’t get me wrong. But I’m a broad spectrum conservative. Each and every one of the Republican members of Congress, including every last RINO, voted to stop ObamaCare. No exceptions.

I believe in nominating conservatives wherever possible. In a few extremely rare cases, where the Republican nominee is hopelessly liberal and there’s a conservative third party candidate (like Doug Hoffman against Dede Scozzafava), I’ll support the third-party candidate and do everything I can to get him elected. But in nearly every case, once we have a GOP nominee, we need to get that GOP nominee elected.

There’s strength in continuity and loyalty too. We expect candidates to be loyal to the party. In return, unless the candidate is as far to the left as Scozzafava, or corrupt like Mark Foley, we need to be loyal to the candidate.

You just sealed the argument against McCain. He’s never been ‘loyal’ to the party or anything except his own interests. He’s to the left and more corrupt than you’ll ever admit. The question is, does Sarah know how corrupt he is?

Indians, Lobbyists and Arizona Politics...OH MY!

No, no, no! Can’t you understand, McCain’s at 96% this year only to get re-elected? Then he’s right back to leadership on cap and trade, campaign finance, amnesty, etc.. Hayworth had it right: Graham is McCain’s proxy this year on the type of issues McCain himself is chomping at the bit to have a fresh six years to undermine conservatism with.

So you've already conceded utter defeat for conservatism... we will be ruled by a gang of leftists, the only question being how many of them have an 'R' next to their names rather than a 'D.' Pardon me if I fail to get excited by this prospect.

>> We can have either a majority in Congress, or ideological purity.<<

We can damned well elect a Senator from a deep red state like Arizona who doesn’t support federal control of all industry through carbon regulating, the government deciding who has and doesn’t have the freedom of speech, siphoning off $100 billion to tobacco lawyers, wealth redistribution, and aiding and abetting the invasion of the United States by granting amnesty to 30 million illegals!!!

I’m not talking ideological purity, I’m talking bearing any semblance of a conservative. If it’s your opinion that conservatives can’t even win the state of Arizona, then why the hell are you infecting this site with your socialist-pandering defeatism? And how dare you criticize others for actually holding out hope that we can do better than McCain?
