Sarah Palin Makes a Rolling Blunder at Motorcycle Rally (Scandal? Piper was on a motorcycle!!)
The Stir ^ | May 30, 2011 | Suzanne Murray

Posted on 05/30/2011 2:18:32 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Yesterday, thousands of bikers descended upon Washington, D.C., for the annual Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally. The rally is an annual demonstration that was started in 1987 to bring attention to the plight of prisoners of war and to those service people missing in action. Among the riders? Sarah Palin. Decked out in a black jacket, big shades, and a Harley-Davidson helmet the Mama Grizzly transformed herself into a Motorcyle Mama for the day to join them in the cause.

Palin was joined at the rally by her husband Todd (forever riding the metaphorical sidecar) and her two daughters, Bristol and Piper. She rode on the back of one motorcyle, Bristol rode on the back of another, and Todd drove his own bike with Piper on the back.

That's right. Sarah Palin let her 10-year-old daughter Piper Palin on a motorcycle.

Are you kidding me?

Motorcycles can be fun and exhilarating to ride -- I've done it. But they can also be dangerous and are known for their ability to kill and maim, even the most skilled riders. A motorcycle is no place for a 10-year-old. It makes no difference that Piper was wearing a helmet, that the bike may have been "going slow," and that she wasn't the one driving it. She's way too young to be introduced to such a dangerous activity.

Once again Sarah Palin put her own PR in front of her her children's needs and safety. But that's not so surprising. After all, don't mama grizzlies eat their young?

Do you think kids should go on motorcyles?

Even among the Palin HATERS there’s not one supportive comment.

For the record, I like Sarah quite a bit.

Uh...no. Female bears are among the most fierce and devoted protectors of their young. Many human females would do well to take lessons from bears in that department, my own so-called mother among them.

At this still very early stage in the 2012 election cycle, I'm not committed to any candidate, and am certainly no slavish fan of Palin, as are most here. But I can't stand this kind of stupidity from commentators, mainstream or otherwise. If they want to criticize her, do it on her policies and politics versus whether or not the Palins' young daughter is riding with her own father on a motorcycle. And don't use a false metaphor to imply Mrs. Palin isn't a good mother. Just effing stupid.

Allow me to present a little case study:

A lawyer, someone who got good grades and a high score on the LSAT, pulls up to the curb. He gets out of his car to check his day-planner, which he does by standing up and putting it on the roof to read it. He has a coffee with him, which he puts on the roof too. He gets so wrapped up in his checking, that he goes back into the car while forgetting that he left the coffee on the roof of his car. He drives off.

If you believe that there's something wrong with him, like trouble with practical reasoning or tunnel vision from overwork, you're a conservative.

If you believe he's a superior man and thus blameless, blame the mug manufacturers and demand new regulations on coffee in cars, you're a liberal.

Category #2 fits Ms. Murray's type.

It was such a great thing to see, a bunch of little kids all barefoot, cutting loose on the playground in a full rain, tearing around. (I was enjoying the rain myself beneath an umbrella, walking nearby, but with shoes!!!)

If I had known the teacher or who it was responsible, I would have hugged her/him. Little things like that gave me, a small-town kid, a whole 'nother education on City Folks when I moved there. I had moved there a country snob elitist, sneering at "city folk, idiots." They are different and naive in a lot of ways, but I learned that they're also incredibly resourceful and adventurous in their own ways, and that it's easy to underestimate them. Lots and lots of good, square, right folks in the cities.

Is this a satire or is it just written by someone who has lead a very sheltered life.

Sarah Palin let her 10-year-old daughter Piper Palin on a motorcycle.

Last I checked, this was still legal. What's the beef?

Blunder? Scandal?

Back in the early 70's I rode motorcyles, dirt bikes to be exact, and every time I came home from a ride, I always had to take my 5-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son around the block a couple of times. Big deal.

What? The media is going to raise their kids for them now?

I remember kids getting on the school bus with their rifles.

When I was getting my Markmanship merit badge in the early sixties in Texas, I carried my 22 on the bus, since the scout troop met after school. They made me turn my bullets over to the bus driver when I got on the bus, however. And she always made me do it, even though she was my mom.

"Those aren’t kids on that ummm...thing. Which was the hovering mother’s point."

Her point - her ONLY point is that she hates Sarah Palin.

She was trying to make a point, but her hatred is so strong she doesn't make any sense.

She's way too young to be introduced to such a dangerous activity.

I'm horrified that Americans see nothing wrong with introducing 10 year old girls to dangerous things like motorcycles.

Girls that age should be at home playing with their pet animals

Piper is safer on that bike, with Todd driving, than almost any over-coddled child in the country. I'm worried about dangers to my children too, but that's for real risks, like having an anti-American communist in our White House. I thank God that Sarah is here to (with luck and hard work on our part) remove that substantive danger to our children. Anyone who worries about children being taught motorcycle safety, gun safety, fire safety, and other basic life skills is advocating raising a helpless generation, one that needs to be taken care of by an all-powerful government. Perhaps that is the intent?

However, one of the MSM rags, NY Times I believe, had this same error...Gov Palin riding with her daughter...all you have to do is look at one of umpteen pics to see that it is someone else she is riding behind...one post said it was an employee of HD.
