Kingwood, Texas-My first stop in America was a little town called Brenham, TX in 1979.
It is home of the Texas famous Blue Bell Ice Cream and Blinn Junior College. My ticket to study engineering in America was based on a music scholarship, but thats another subject.
I was a wet behind-the-ears black kid that spoke with an accent in a country town. The black American kids were suspicious of me, the white American kids were curious, and the Hispanic American kids giggled when I spoke to them in Spanish. I hung out with Peruvian, Argentinian, Guatemalan, and Venezuelan friends most of that year. We were all strangers in a new land away from our parents for the first time who shared one thing in common we could all communicate in Spanish and when strange things happened we could enter our cocoon. It is amazing how quickly and quietly human beings adapt.
We were walking down one of the few commercial streets in Brenham when some guys in a pickup truck just started shouting "n****r" and, if I remember correctly, something about being in the wrong part of town. It was directed solely at me because, while we were all Latinos walking down that street, I was the only black one....

With a little luck Egberto Willies will meet a ‘Trayvon Martin’ face to face soon.
Yeah, I think he and Trayvon had something in common, namely knee jerk reactions to race issues.
In this case, this guy is making all kinds of unfounded assumptions that TM was a little angel and acted as one, and the big bad racist attacked him.
Note he is not too subtly being racist about Hispanics, saying lighter skinned Hispanics got better treatment than he did.
Hmm, how plausible is that, racist whites got all nasty with him while welcoming his other South American brethren into their hearts?
The facts of the TM case are that the racism has been coming from the black community, and of course all leftists.
IF reporters cared about real racism, they would have watched this trial and honestly told the American people that the evidence is Z got jumped and acted in self defense.
I did watch the trial and it was an incredibly non existent case by the prosecution. 80% of the prosecution case was exonerating Zimmerman. That is a fact not based on race.
Did he call “white” Hispanics creepy ass crackers, smoke weed, and wear a hoodie too? What a load of BS.
Yea, its a total BS story.
Come about Tuesday, many of us may be George Zimmerman.
He was free to leave....Still is.
If it’s so tough for Egberto here in America, why doesn’t he just go home. Problem solved. I’m sure the rest of America would be okay with that.
Even if the story is true, so what?
A couple of years ago an idiot in a pickup truck called me a "damn faggot" because I was riding a bicycle. The event did not transform my view of America. It didn't even make me angry. I took it for what it was: a stupid statement by a stupid man who knew nothing about me, and who was perhaps unsure of his own sexuality.
Had Egberto Willies been on my bike, the event would have so traumatized him that he would have spent the next week crying in his bedroom, wailing about Homophobic America.
Screw him. Like most of the left's supposed victims, he's really just spoiled rotten. If you can't learn to ignore the idiots, you are one.
Very very Hollywood - so freakin’ pat that one must wonder how much is fact and how much fiction. Experience says the guy had an urge to jump on the travesty of the trial and make up his own story in hopes of getting TV interviews.
Egberto, if you was Saint Skittles, you’d be a dead thug.
Stop writing stupid crap.
Love, the Fieldmarshal.
I remember the day I learned about racism in America.
There I was just a white country boy, moving to a red brick neighborhood known as the Western Heights projects. While I tried to fit in, I was soon known as I weird white guy, that didn’t speak ghetto, or buy crack. Soon the nasty prostitutes on the hill knew me as the guy that had no money and would ostracize me. Some of the folks considered me an oddity, the guy that would answer the door with pistol in hand and a funny little smile.
I was happy to learn that racism grew in such places, and yet I didn’t have to learn hatred of anyone for their skin color but their individual characteristics. Nasty, lazy, hostile, pernicious, no account, worthless individuals, whose ways and deeds, resembled animals, with the lust and hungers of a beast.
I am glad that the dreadful time there ended, without me having to shoot anyone or getting shot. My first hand account revealed a deep seated animosity toward anything strong and good, but not within myself, but within a segment of the population bent on self destruction. Woe to the postman that brings the checks without a police escort. Ross Perots giant sucking sound doesn’t only come from Mexico, but also from the heart of darkness in every large city across America.
