Why won't we recapture Bagram Airfield and set up our air assets there? (Vanity)

I do not see how we evacuate from the Kabul Airport successfully without the use of Bagram Airfield. As we draw down our troops there, we become vulnerable to attacks by the Taliban.

I think there’s some Taliban folks sitting around there, and would put up a ‘fuss’. I do agree....back in June when we vacated Bagram....that was a five-star screw-up and should have been the last hold-out for evacuation planning purposes.

Because we’re in check mate. Nothing we do at this point will make the situation better. Retake Bagram, and the Taliban begins dragging US citizen into the Kabul streets for public execution.

We’re screwed.

Planning of a big risky operation requires leadership to begin. There are no leaders in the employ of the Federal Government.

It’s too late for that. The US and the Taliban evidently have some sort of informal cease fire in place. If we retake the Bagram airport, the Taliban would probably go nuts and kill everyone at the Kabul airport.

It’s mystery to every thinking person as to we we abandoned Bagram in the first place. But now we in the position of the Titanic after it has hit the iceberg. There are really no good options left.

Things are being done as they are because that is how our government WANTS them to be done!

It really comes down to this.

Folks, this is what losing a war looks like.

We could probably assault in with Rangers and take it back. But the Tyrant Usurper can’t even figure out which side of his Depends faces front, let alone how to beat a bunch of Stone Age hillbillies.

The thing to ty to understand is WHY.

Because TeamTrump had identified about 100k deserving Afghan patriots to evacuate [+ all the Americans, obviously]. But TeamBiden didn’t want a hundredK of patriotic, Trump-grateful, freedom fighting nationalists at the front of the line. So they scrapped the plan, knowing that chaos would ensue, and are now leaking the list of patriots such that the folks getting evacuation are the top of the heap of whiners, guvmint-dependent, “peaceful muzzie”, misunderstood, mediotic, elitist [bribe paying], future democraps. From their perspective this is a brilliant plan.

Biden and his poofy generals have painted the US military and civilians into a corner.

The conspiracy minded would think that the Chinese designed this military strategy for the US....

At this point getting on their knees and begging the Taliban for mercy is the only option left...

When Bagram closed it was clear the fix was in.

Patience, Grasshoppers, patience. These matters take time.

You can't just go around willy-nilly carpet bombing a country with pallets of cash. You might injure the wrong people.

Because that’s an invasion and an act of war. Right now we’re engaged in a humanitarian mission.

Don’t worry. There are reports of a resistance, being led by Ghani’s son, who is reported to have been a “guerrilla fighter” against the Taliban, back in the day.

If true, soon he and his boys will need guns, ammo, and all the other toys. And eventually he’ll need on the ground assistance and air assets. Meaning, SOF or CIA personnel on the ground.

Round and round, the US and the Military Industrial Complex we go. Gotta make dem Benjamin’s.

We have 7000 troops, plus tens of thousands of civilians, diplomats, and foreign allies at Kabul airport. There is no easy way to get that group to Bagram.

The Taliban are leaving the airport alone for now. They want us gone as much as we want to be gone, but anything that changes that understanding will lead to a lot of blood spilled very quickly.

As far as the Taliban destroying runways, the USAF and other services have runway repair teams that specialize in that, and it is extremely difficult to permanently knock out an airfield. That’s why the British runway denial weapon along with those of other nations not only include cratering submunitions, but anti-personnel submunitions to hamper runway repair efforts. Only would take a few hours to fill in the holes and lay down matting or pour new concrete

Trying to retake Bagram would be an epic disaster.

Taliban have checkmated us due to the ineptitude of all branches of our government.

Dems own this...as do some of the GOP
